VFT flowered... now what??

Sooooo I'm new to growing Venus fly traps. I've been successful with this one. Till now.

I unfortunately only only stumbled upon a post recently saying that the flower stalk needs to be chopped off as soon as it appears. Alas - mine grew to almost flowering before I knew to cut it off.

Prior to that there were a nunber number of traps which had started going black (from eating? Some didn't reopen once they had eaten a fly).

So now im sitting with a VFT with no traps and the cut flower stalk. Is there any hope of this plant surviving?

it only gets distilled water. It's in the recommended peat moss with the silicas for airation. We are in South Africa and the temperatures are around 32 degrees centigrade during the day.

Please help?
