That's a nice classic chair. I can tell that your seating arrangement doesn't work with the architecture in your room. At the very least the sofa needs to be moved back to the line I have drawn on your floor. Without seeing more of the room, it's hard to make recommendations, however, adding a rug to the location of the chair is definitely NOT the solution.

No rug, but add more fabric: a couple of pillows with the throw; a cute table (like the one in this picture); and a floor lamp.

Incorporate the chair into the grouping or move it to another place in your home. The chair looks quite odd this way, adding a rug will only make matters worse.

I appreciate the feedback. Here is full pics of the room. It is long & narrow. I need to keep a place for the computer and the armoire needs to go as well but is housing a tv that needs to stay against that wall. Trying to recycle what I have for now until I can do a full redesign. Open to suggestions!

What if you swap it with the red chair. The red is smaller and looks more like entry way piece.
