Soft colorful rug

Rug, some colorful wall art, a couple of brightly painted kids chairs (not necessarily blue and pink), some funky bedding with lots of color (again). The room needs warming up and it needs some fun added to it.

You have a bit of color on the desks. I would keep adding colour on the cubicles with some baskets and a nice rug. Maybe an accent wall where the bed is so that side is not so dark...

Hi lbaguidy, I think you could add a bright rug and colorful decorations, and lights. The rug should be big enough to cover the floor like in the example below and it would have a warmer look with colored curtains.

It's a nice blank slate so this should be a snap to pull together....I'm just questioning the thickness of the upper mattress? Is it too high thus making the guard rails somewhat useless? I remember when my kids were young they moved around in the bed like airplanes through the night and sometimes woke up in the morning completely turned around. Good luck!

I would ask the 4 yr. old what colors he/ she likes and use that for at least a wall that can be repainted on a whim as the kids get older and change favorite colors i also love decals for the walls easily changed as the kids age lots of books , lots of toy storage

You have soft tones so I would keep the carpet down, using the aqua (color of the pillow on top bed) as accent.

I would use a couple of small round carpets (ideally not identical) or one about length of bed and width 3/4 of the spacw between the bed and the desks.

I like the pink/blue if you could find the same but reversing colors, to have two sifferent carpets.

Some more carpets. I like the idea of adding yellow to the blue and pink.

If it were me, I would remove one of the desks for now, as your 2 year old could make better use of the floor space or a toy chest, etc. and I would leave the blue legged desk, as it's not as gender specific and then use bold primary colors - blue/orange/yellow. I would put the desk under the window and add another cubby and place the two along the long wall, so you get more storage and add baskets. A rug, bedding and decals or posters, etc. will finish it off and I wouldn't suggest the rug in 1st picture, but something that wouldn't show marks.

I agree that your rug is a better idea for kids that age - the pix I posted were meant to be more about size than color.
