I just had my whole house done in white oak flooring I do not know if the gaps are to large, however, what I did see them do was go around after installing and before sanding fill all holes and gaps. After sanding and stain and poly I do not see any of the nail holes or filler

I just had mine done about 6 months ago and I do not remember seeing staples or spaces like that. There may have been a space here or there that they filled before they sanded but nothing like that. Is this tongue and grove? Did u purchase the wood or did they?

I'm a little curious about the layout. Should the boards be staggered?

Could be staggered, the lines across the boards are pencil marks. Could be so the guy who is using the staple gun stays consistent but I'm not sure as to why they are stapling on top and not through the tongue of the board. This install does not look correct, red flags already popping up.

Thanks so much for your feedback. The hardwood was supplied by the subcontractor and I believe it was in the house for a week before install. The lines across the boards are pencil marks that will be sanded out when they are finished. I chatted with my GC about my concerns and he said that he will make sure the floors are done correctly, I was really happy to hear that. The floors will be finished by next week.
