It is beautiful in the fall with red to burgundy color and birds (especially turkeys) love the fruit. Be forewarned that birds will plant it everywhere! After several years it started showing up everywhere in the garden and it's tough to remove once it's started.

Vitis purpurea has gorgeous fall color and doesn't reseed. The leaves turn a brilliant red even in mild climates. It might be a good substitute for you.
