Linda, I'm so glad you are feeling better!

I have no place I have to be this weekend! Woohoo! We are planning to get our windows replaced and I made appointments with two companies for tomorrow, but mostly I will be in the sewing room.

I'm working on the final set of blocks for my Provence and Beyond quilt (it's very different colors from Bonnie's Provence!). There are 12 of them and they all have an applique of a five-petal flower with a stem and three leaves. I finished the stems last night.

If I get tired of hand applique I can always start on the finishing steps.

I hope to finish the tee shirt for the trail run raffle next weekend. Tomorrow is youngest grands birthday lunch, but after that I should be able to get some sewing done.

I like the colors Bonnie has this year, but don't know if I'll do it till later. I will certainly be printing the clues every week.

Glad you are feeling better - everyone I know that has caught that flu has really struggled with it. Take good care!

I sandwiched our grandbaby's Harry Potter inspired quilt that I pieced at the retreat and have started the quilting on it. Our DIL's friends are having a baby shower Nov. 6, so I have a week to get it finished, so working away. Hopefully will be finished this weekend. I am also trying to finish the last of the 2017 Block Lotto Samples so I can post them the first week of November. This will be our last year (Linda and I) to host the Block Lotto, so others should start to think about taking up the charge for 2018.

I like Bonnie Hunter's pattern but doubt I will do it - not the right colors in my stash.

I got one of the three tops quilted in the past two days. Now on to the next two. Then comes trimming and binding. That will be another week's work I'm sure.

Good to hear you're feeling better, Linda.

I do plan to sew this week-end. Not sure what, but it'll be mindless as I'm still whirling from info DGD told me yesterday. After she graduates college, Dec 16, she'll be leaving to work at a hotel in Vail, CO in some kind of management position and won't be back until April.

So many young people graduate with no job in sight. Good for her that she has one. I hope she will enjoy it.

I am guessing you are going to miss her but April will be here before you know it. Chin up! And keep sewing.

I am finishing up a few small things that have been taking up space on my design wall. I quilted a small hanging for a friend who is giving it to her sister at Thanksgiving. I will try and finish up my bird house borders from retreat and get the quilting started on that. I am going to take a look in the
stash and ponder another Bonnie Hunter mystery. I have the time to fit
that in again this year if I feel compelled to do it. Then I'm off to see to Mom again on Tuesday.

Theresa, That is true about a lot of college students not having a job. She had a lot of offers, but this one gave her what she asked for and is accommodating her with housing and a job for her boyfriend, too. He is recently out of the military so he's looking for a job, too. She said she has a good feeling about it even though her mother and I are missing her already. I made sure she knew the door was always open. :-)

Lois, What a friend you have!!!

Sharon, my daughter moved to Colorado to get her Master's and PhD, fell in love with Colorado and plans on never returning. There is a saying once you move to Colorado, you never leave. I'm very glad she is so happy, but I would love to have her closer. But don't let this get you down, I'm sure some people leave.

I didn't think I would get a chance to quilt, but I did. I'm trying to get two tops pieced so I can set them aside until January. I just want to be able to have a clean workstation to start a throw for a Christmas gift. I wish I had whipped out a baby blanket for a niece, but never got around to it. Shower is Saturday and I have to miss it anyway.

It's true, Bev - once you move to Colorado, you never want to leave! Maybe we should have a retreat HERE and you can both see daughter & granddaughter when you come! We moved here in 1981 and I can't imagine living anywhere else.

My dad was born & raised in Colorado, near Colo. Springs. The Army brought him to FL and he discovered someplace where you didn't freeze half the year! So after the Army he brought mom and my brother to FL.

Lois, what a score! I went through a phase where every time JoAnn's had sewing patterns on sale (which was often!) I would go buy a pile of them. I think I had 2 big Rubbermaid tubs full of them! At some point I realized since I hardly ever sew clothes any more I wasn't likely to use many of them. I kept a handful and gave the rest to Goodwill.

I love your idea, Sue. I'd be there in a heartbeat. Although hubby said he is open to joining you ladies at retreat next year.

Donna, I did the same thing with mine. I have just a few left now.

Bev, my hubby comes every year he is off for the retreat. He comes and goes and has a great time.

Bruce is a bicycler and big reader, so he could keep himself busy. I know we both would have a great time.

We always take our bikes and ride the Virginia Creeper and New River trails before retreat. They are beautiful in October.

Tobey may come next time - loves to ride bikes and hike. Probably will be in the RV since we will have our dog - wonder if he could camp there???
