Half wall or not?

I have a half wall between my kitchen and den, which are long and narrow. In order to get a big island with seating i might need to get rid of it. A kitchen designer suggested a built in table or cabinets there instead of the half wall which serves no purpose. Any ideas???

Can you upload a photo ?? I would suggest a big island that will serve as more storage and countertop space from one side and and dining table on the other side, but I'm not sure because I don't know if it fits in

if you dislike the half wall now, chances are you won't like it when the kitchen is renovated. Remove it if possible.

The nice thing about a half wall is u can put furniture up against it. Is there anywhere to do that if u get rid of it?

I think you answered your own questions when you said "serves no purpose." If it doesn't serve an aesthetic or practical purpose, then why keep it?
