we have a living/dining combo separated by a half-wall, built-in bookcase and half-wall, ribbon burner fireplace. there will be a rug in the living room. i've seen a lot of photos on houzz with rugs in both rooms, as well as just the living room. we do not have children or pets (yet...). we do not wear shoes in the house.

i just want to know what fellow houzzers' life experience has taught them about rugs in the dining room.
