It's a honeysuckle, Lonicera species, probably L periclymenum. The petioles are irrelevant since almost nothing about the plant bears any resemblance to Akebia quinata. The most obvious differences are that A quinata has compound palmate leaves and bears sausage shaped blue fruit, not red berries. Your Lonicera has opposite simple leaves but you have photographed the end of a stem where they're quite close together possibly misleading you into thinking they are compound.

You don't say where the 'field ' is but A quinata is not something you are likely to find outside a garden setting unless you are located in its native haunts in SE Asia.

For future reference it is important to state where a plant was growing geographically, to say if it was in a wild or cultivated setting and to include something in the photo to give a scale. Very good info, thank you for the articulate assistance. The only reason I thought perhaps A. quinata is going from distant memory. There definitely is some growing in a botanical garden near where I live in Vancouver called Park & Tilford but that is moot now.

You're welcome. There are lots of images on the web so if you do have a notion of an id you can always compare your plant with pictures, although there are unfortunately a lot of mislabelled plants on sites like Pinterest and photo sites.
