Under mount kitchen sink: reveal, flush, or overhang?

Is there a recommended standard installation? What are the pros and cons of each configuration? The template from the quartz fabricator shows a reveal. I'd really appreciate any experienced advice please.

Reveal: There is a stainless horizontal reveal that extends about 1/4" to 3/8" inside the quartz counter top. It seems that the silicon will be visible and things will collect on the reveal edge.

Flush mount: The silicon will still be visible but there is no stainless edge to have to keep clean. The flush mount will require exact perfect placement of the sink to the counter. Even off 1/8" will be very noticeable.

Quartz over hangs the sink: This is my favorite option because the silicon will be hidden under the 1/4" overhang. Anyone have issues with the counter top getting broken or chipped while washing dishes? The counter top fabricator acts like they've never heard of this before.

When you can see the sink edge it's called a positive reveal, and an overhang is called a negative reveal.

put a positive reveal on the back of my apron sink, so that I have the
option of using a cutting board that rests on the sink reveals, but that
works best if you have a large sink. I do need to wipe water drops off
the reveal, but don't have grunge--IMO it helps that I can see any
accumulation and wipe it off each time.

From reading the GW Kitchens forum for several years, my impression is that the negative reveal is the most popular of the three (positive, flush, negative), and the easiest for the installer to get right. I'm surprised that your fabricator isn't more familiar with it. What type of reveal is he recommending?

Thank you for your comment. It was very informative. When I placed the order (at Menards) I specified a "reveal" versus a "drop in top mount". It didn't have any other option nor more detail on the reveal. The template that came had a positive reveal. Menards called the fabricator and they said that they could do a flush mount. Menards is going to call back and ask about (what I now know is called) a negative reveal. Thank you for a purpose (cutting board) for the positive reveal. I hadn't thought of that.
