Pendant lighting cords

I ordered the most amazing pendant lights to go over my island. However, when they arrived, the cords were coils instead of stems, and they appear to be very cheap when compared to the beauty of the handblown glass of the pendant itself. The coiled cords are 8 feet long and I feel strangely about covering them with fabric. Is there anything I can do?
