Other than a few photos, nothing. I don't get attached to inanimate objects.... people, pets, yes.

I really don't keep many photos out. I prefer them to be sorted in albums. Thinking of things I would be most likely to keep "forever" and display wherever we live, this tapestry would be a top contender. I really do love the scenery and colors. I had been debating where it would fit in our new place and decided to hang it behind our couch. Our old tapestry rod went MIA during our last move and being the idiot I am, I bought too short of a new rod and need to exchange it so I can finally hang it up!

My art collection will never be gone we have chosen every piece together , I am not a lover of family photos on display . I have collected Alessi pieces for quite a while and a few of them are displayed where I actually use them but the rest are in cabinets I am a bit of a minimalist so not much clutter

A few things, all different ways -- mementos from family, from travel, or just art bought here or there. I don't think I "couldn't do without" any of it, but the things I like to see are on walls and tucked into bookcases...

We inherited several things from my mother-in-law that I have tucked away. Though I certainly appreciate everything, I can't possible display it all. A couple items I do have out are this antique ivory fan from China, and the porcelain dancing girls figurine from Germany. Would not want to part with them.

i agree w/ Jacknewportbeach pictures are good, but simply it. how big is the entire room? or are you tossing out jsut the main photo you attached?

That's a toughie!! I am very sentimental and I'm a collector. Maybe my Mom's dry sink. I was this close to throwing out my Mom's rocking chair, but while we were loading other furniture into the truck, it rocked. So I kept it.

After having move continents - twice - I am a minimalist and would love to keep it that way. My bed is the only thing I can't do with out....everything else can be negotiated.

i will say somethings in my life have made these things much easier to deal with. at a young age, i learned nothing is ever truly yours and it can be destroyed or removed at any given moment. my mom's family is dead. died overseas and we never received anything from the their estates due to various tribulations. i do not know my father's family. what little my mom does have she is still holding onto with clenched fingers. her family is long lived, she is 80. i am not long lived. so if i do outlive her? i will have to fight my sister for it. if it has monetary value, i have no hope due to son and bil. i will own what i can for what, 5years? son won't care, so eh?

i know sounds harsh, but maybe you can take a little away and find yourself a little less caring?

Hi Irene! Actually I have quite a few things I would find difficult to part with. A set of delicate blue and white porcelain tea cups from Japan, a large round cookie jar from Turkey... but the rocker I rocked both of my babies in, is very special to me. It is in a corner in my living room and I've re upholstered it with a pretty berry colored fabric.
