If your throw is the color of white that you feel is best for the space, please DO take it with you on every shopping trip. Put it in a shopping bag so people will not think you are shoplifting.

Have you painted your walls white? Choose a color from the paint chip colors you have and buy a sample pot. Paint a piece of white poster board with two thin coats of paint. This works much better than one thick, gloppy coat. Pin the poster board to the wall. Look at it several times a day (morning, noon, afternoon, dusk, and full night with artificial lights). Make notes right on the poster board about the way the light affects the color. Be sure to note which wall the poster is on. Do this for all four walls. If you like the color, great! Go buy the amount you will need to paint your room. If not, start the sequence again.

White and ivory don't necessarily just "go" together. There is a real art to adding ivory with white soothe ivory does not look "dirty." For your modern home, I would stick with white.

Look in Houzz PHOTOS, Kitchens, Modern, "white." Start your very own Ideabook of your favorite rooms for inspiration. Even if a room seems "meh," add it to your Ideabook. It is extremely difficult to find a photo again on Houzz, because there are over one million of them, and the order changes several times a day as new photos are added. It is easy to delete a photo from your Ideabook.

eztia- Thanks so much for your responce! I really appreciate it. My throw isn't totally white it's more of an off white/ivory color. I got it at Pier 1 imports and I like the color but want to make it work with everything else. Like you mentioned the 'dirty' look. That's what I'm concerned about. I want it to flow and not look like something is 'older' because it's not as white. Know what I mean?

I compared my throw to some white vases I have and the throw has kind of a yellowish tint/undertone. I know the whites or ivory's need to have the same 'tone' as in blue or yellow undertones but I forgot which. I would stick with just whites but I like this throw and not a lot of things come in pure white. I have a sheepskin that I also have that I think is in the same tone as the throw.

I have quite a few ideabooks but it's hard to tell the difference in colors. There is one room that I really like that has whites and ivorys mixed together and looks really good. I just don't know how to acheive it. Do you know if it's the blue or the yellow undertones of ivory that work together with plain white? I'm just so picky and want to get it right. *aha moment... I could also see if I can find the picture of the room that I like and see if I could get a hold of the designer that way... :)
