Fireduck do I feed this guy?

Hey fireduck I know you're the expert here... but please anyone else feel free to chime in! I'm that newbie to avocados that bought the Haas avocado tree online from fast growing trees. (http://www.gardenweb.com/discussions/4232466/6-ft-tall-hass-avocado-from-fast-growing-trees-in-northern-ca-9b)

It's planted in the bed. Mulched. Gave it some alfalfa top dressing.

I don't usually feed my plants... instead just giving good soil, mulch, water and TLC.

But this guy is new to me. Should I feed him? If so, what?

He's still acclimating I think. Little droopy in the leaves, but besides that, seems healthy. Trunk is about one inch thick at the base and he's about 5ft tall.

He was just under 6, but I trimmed off a bit after shipping because he looked like he might appreciate it.

Newer growth at the top looks like it could benefit from something.

The seller's directions say this (see below). Like I said, I don't usually feed ... but I tried the alfalfa top dressing. Only problem with that was I found out my weirdo dogs love alfalfa. So with organic blends, my dogs will probabaly love to eat them too. Won't harm the dogs of course, but they may dig around and harm my new tree when I'm not looking. They're so mischievous! Your advice and wisdom is appreciated. Here's what the seller's directions said...
- Be conservative with the fertilizer until after the first year. Avoid fertilizing when the tree is flowering or until the fruit has set. Compost works the best, but you can also use an organic Citrus/Avocado 8-3-9 blend.

Anyone out there? Any advice for the limp look of the leaves?

I know it's most likely because he's acclimating... but it sure would be nice if he perked up.

Buy some avo citrus fertilizer and follow the instructions. It may take 60 days to overcome shock. Loosen the shipping ties on the stake. Let the tree move to gain strength.
