Front loader will let comforter tumble freely. You might switch to two king coverlets instead of one comforter. They can be washed one at a time in a normal top loader and dried quickly in a normal drier.

I would suggest looking for a heavy duty large capacity model and select a brand that has a good reputation in that particular model (manufacturers can have different ratings on each of their models). We have a Maytag HE top loader and wash a king size coverlet , queen comforters, curtains and dog beds and are very happy with the results.

Either top loader or front loader washers come in different sizes. I have a heavy duty large capacity front load washer and can wash my king sized quilted bed spread...but my dryer is just normal size and won't hold my spead. Check with your appliace dealer before you buy.

Be cautious with what dealers/manufacturers tell you. An appliance technician told me some 'large capacity' machines today really aren't made well enough to handle items like comforters and bedspreads. We had a Whirlpool washer last just 4 1/2 years. My fingers are crossed our new LG set will be a better story. No front loaders for me...I'm a top loader fan.

IMO front load washers are a lot easier on your clothes but most dryers can’t handle the same amt. as front load washer when I wash my comforters in my Bosch front load I dry them outside over my deck railing until they are about 1/2 dry then finish in the dryer . I love my xtra sanitary cycle on my Bosch I had to change bedding and towels etc because I had a staph infection and I used that cycle every day for a month to wash all the stuff I came in contact with instead of having to boil everything
