Those blocks are designed for having a back fill more substantial than compost. Maybe you can add more compost and soil and pack it down a bit. As is, it's not going to fall over unless you have a big earthquake. Are you worried about young kids tipping it over? It would still take some effort.

How high are you going to go?

I don't think you'll need the gravel for drainage in this case.

I would also not put anything up against the metal shed.

Did you use leveling sand under your first row? The bottom row should be buried but since it's just 3 blocks high it think it will be ok if you don't. But I would backfill up to the second block on the back side and pack it good, you wouldn't have to do the whole area in the back just slope it off but get the block buried. It looks like you dug down so you can also pack dirt in the front to fill where you dug it out. It looks great so far, love it.

I indeed used a base layer based on my reading online and Youtube videos. It was a layer of 3/4" crushed rock. The most challenging part was the base layer, which took me 2 nights (I have a day job :-P) to make sure every block was perfectly level. The top 2 levels were a cakewalk after that and took another night to complete. I ended up using Loctite Landscape Block Adhesive to clue the levels together. Feel nice and secure now! Hopefully I won't need to un-build it any time soon. With the adhesive, I'm not sure if I could. LOL
