Hello all, I wanted to share my experience with an Ancona Rapido 30 range vent hood motor bearing replacement. This unit started to make a progressively more noise as the bronze bushing on the "front" side of the motor where the squirrel cage is mounted. It finally got bad enough that it started growling and banging at any speed.

The motor unit is supposedly replaceable with an Italian branded SRL Model LN2. I couldn't get enough useful information on the replacement assembly and decided to go all out on taking the unit apart.

The photos attached are a guide for disassembling the fan housing once it is removed from the vent hood. The photos do not include the 4 screws in the top tube cover area to drop the fan housing from the hood.

I'll let the pictures do the talking. The key take-away solution here is that I replaced the bronze "self lubricating" bushings with ball bearings 6mm ID x 12mm OD x 4mm thick ABEC 3 Rubber Seal MR126-2RS-BU. These are used in remote controlled RC cars. I received these from a one-day delivery online order on a Saturday - much faster than trying to source the self-lubricating bronze bushings from overseas or a hole-in-the-wall repair shop in town during the work week.

I pried the bushing retainers open a little to squeeze the ball bearing in place. The bearings need to be tapped lightly to drive them on the 6mm motor shaft as the unit is reassembled.

The result is a smooth running vent hood that is quieter than I recall it was new.....and certainly quieter than the racket it made the day before the repair. Not sure if these ball bearings have long life - but they were cheap enough that I bought a 10 pack for less than $11. I trashed one bearing during install before 2 bearings finally ended up installed successfully on the assembly.

Hopefully this information helps anyone who bought this entry-level Ancona model from Costco.
