I had Yuletide a while back ago but, no longer. I did see a red one and a pink one for sale last Fall at a local plant nursery. The bloom in your picture reminds me of the pink bloom I saw last year.

Thanks Luis for your reply. It is interesting to see that Yuletide has more colour variations out there. Although I was hoping that I could add a red camellia to my already quite crowded array of pink ones, the pink that my Yuletide has is in a more paler/watercolour shade, different from the rest. I certainly don’t mind its colour.

I also noticed that all the pink flowers came from one of the three plants in the same container that I bought. The other two plants haven’t bloomed yet, but let’s see if they will be in red when they do.

I agree with the above :-) There is no pink flowered Yuletide camellia!! The plant is either incorrectly labeled or improperly propagated - although some nurseries/website refer to a "Pink Yuetide", it is really 'MonDel' or the Yuletide sport Pink-A-Boo they are referring to. I suspect they are short circuiting the patent restrictions by calling it Pink Yuletide.

Thanks folks for the suggestions. I was suspecting that it was MonDel/Pink-A-Boo, too, but the pictures I could find showed that MonDel/Pink-A-Boo had a much paler pink and white edges. Perhaps the same camellia cultivar can indeed vary in colour depending on environmental factors? The label on the nursery pot said the colour was orange/red, so the plant was quite likely mislabelled.

On the weekend, this pink Yuletide plant opened a flower that is undoubtedly red on an adjacent branch. So, maybe the plant was not mislabelled after all. It just came with a few pink branches.

I once had Camellia with two different color flowers! I completely forgot about that. I bet it's sporting, that's it. That is the way new cultivars of Camellia are created. You see a branch with odd looking flowers/leaves and then graft it and create a whole new plant. I think this is exactly how 'Pink-A-Boo' was born.

Yes, I have read that it is not uncommon for camellias to have flowers of different colours on the same plant. April Dawn, for example, can be white with pink stripes, pure pink or pure white. I just didn’t expect to see this on a Yuletide, hence my question on this forum.
