The first option is the best I think - love the lighter strip at the top

Painting below the picture rail was traditionally used to visually lower the height of tall ceilings. Your ceilings look to be the standard 2.5m height so keeping the top part white does visually lower them even further.

I see what you mean, but I don think the added horizontal lines make it look longer and wider

I didn't really want a feature wall, but I think I might have come up with a modular design that would be all white with that far wall as a a dark feature. It should then work as a seating room, a bed room and a photo studio, with little to no big changes

I would definitely go for second option, the brighter the space is the better. /Marcin

MM Feng Shui - what do you think about a white room with a feature wall at the far end?

I like feature walls however one should be careful painting one of the walls with another colour as different colour in some cases may also separate the space. I don't recommend that for a bed wall as sleeping in two different spaces may have negative influence on people. Try it on your model but I think I would paint the whole room white or with some light colour.

(this post spare room will be a seating, studio, guest room) I know you'd say take the TV out (not in the picture ;)) But what would FS say about the rest?
I should point out the main door is off to the left and not directly at the end of the bed. The door in the picture is the en suite

Nice picture and beautiful bedroom. Can I see the other corners of the room? So as you were mentioned...no tv, no dear above the bed, no bedding stuff with lines, squares or other regular or geometric figures. I think the upper hanging lamp is not necessary in the middle of the bed. In this case the feature wall works pretty well thanks to two paintings on the other wall which complete the space with the same colour. I think a nice carpet would make it even more cosy.

Thanks, the only picture I have is this one. This is the end of the bed, the main door is on the right of this picture and the TV is centered to the bed. To the right of picture one is the window ( left of TV picture) I stood in the corner left of the TV to take the first picture. The room is "square"
Why not straight lines!? I don't think my ocd could cope without lines lol

We live in the modern world built with straight lines, squares, triangles and other geometric figures. Just look around. The feng shui I practice encourage to organise the space the way is as close to the natural environment as possible. In nature, where we suppose to come from, there is no straight lines or repetitive elements, at least perceived by naked eye. Everybody knows that nature has healing, calming and relaxing effects on human body and mind so why not to benefit from it and bring it to our homes...:)

Oh but I like my structure :P I'm a very logical person, creative, but logical. I like my symmetry and lines and balance :P

In other news, I tried some tester pots on the spare room, didn't like them, bought (another) tin of moonlight white, but then found half a tin of grey when I went to get the paintbrushes and now I've started painting it all grey :P

Hi Ryan. The structure is ok as long as you can control it :)...as I remember you have mentioned that this is not going to be the main bedroom and will have a sofa not a proper bed so I think the feature wall will work here. I wouldn't paint all walls grey because I think it will make your space smaller and darker. However all depends how you will decorate it afterwards. I would recommend to first make 3d rendering of your room and play with colours and furniture. It would save a lots of time.

Hi Ryan, it looks great! Are you an interior designer? You found a good balance between grey walls and white decoration. At least on the photographed part of the room. The lightning is also perfect. The only thing I dislike is your artwork...its a bit scary and I wouldn't like to sleep with it...:)

Thanks. The paint is "grey skies" silk, from Wilko £10 a tin :P I had some left over from when I did the other spare room, I was a bit worried about using it too much but it made sense in the design and also as it'll be a room for photos so the netural grey will stop colour problems in photos.
