November picture thread!

last modified: 9 years ago

It's a particularly dreary month up here so I thought it might be nice to see some of pictures of how your month is going! I don't have many so far.

My husband indulged my obsession with charcuterie plates by putting this dinner together for us. It was delightful! The pink stuff is beet hummus.

My puppy before and after getting groomed. We laughed so much when she pranced out with her new hairdo.

I'm excited that my little Meyer lemon tree is loaded. Lemon pie for Thanksgiving.

    Some of my roses

I can't believe it is mid-November and I still am picking fresh tomatoes and other veggies from the garden. Here is some of my haul fro. The past few days. Not even all the peppers or herbs. And the Smokey haze cooperated so I could get a decent photo of the big Super Moon last night.

And my Confederate Rose which always blooms in the fall. Almost seems out of place to be blooming pink this time of year.

I finished two canvas drawings and started painting one. I'm still new enough to oil painting for it to be frustrating but I'm slowly plugging along...

My sister in-law when we were in Cornwall.

My brother in-law when we were on the isle of Brac. Started the dead layer and have four to five coats to go. I'm having a hard time getting into it lately.

Roarah: that is so wonderful! I started teaching my own DD how to cook when she was about that age. She's now a college senior sharing a house with 3 other girlfriends and she's not only planning meals, planning her grocery trips, cooking (and eating) healthfully for herself, but she's teaching the rest how to cook. I can't imagine girls that age not knowing how to plan meals and cook, but they don't! Your daughter is adorable and will thank you someday for this. What a great mom you are!

Robo: OMG, that charcuterie plate looks wonderful! I am so impressed that your DH put together something that varied and beautiful. My only complaint is that I've been craving something similar ever since I saw it! I'm off to the kitchen to start dinner . . . and snacking.

roarah, such an adorable photo. My mom always gave me the green light in the kitchen and she was also a good teacher.

This past weekend I attended a 3-day workshop at a diocesan retreat just outside of Healdsburg, about 15 miles from where I live. It was a much welcome balm.

We are almost done with our kitchen remodel and Seymour loves our new island, he even matches the color scheme!

Nice pictures. Love the little chef. Here is a plaque I saw on my walk today. I like the quotation very much.

I love how they decorated this fountain I saw in Charleston.
And the window boxes there are the best!

We had a few heavy wind days a couple of weeks ago. The weeds, very light and fluffy, not to be confused with tumbleweed, stayed there for several days until the wind changed directions. :)

Coming back from my morning walk, the kitties were waiting for me. Raven on the left, Callico on the right.

My 3 dogs enjoy my Craigslist sofa that I got last year as much as I do. I chuckle at the way they often lay on it. There is a beautiful sofa under the Sure-Fit cover. Rooney, a very fluffy Brittany -

    Love the pics!

My hydrangeas have been riotously blooming since June....but we had frost forecast this past weekend, so I cut these last blooms. Sigh, no more til late May!

Here is my sweet Huddy bear!

Since I don't post pics of my kids online, this one is in honor of my 14 year old dd's competitive cheer season starting this weekend! Lots of travel for the next 5 months!

What a feel-good thread this has been. Thanks, robo, for starting this one. Keep 'em coming everyone. I have enjoyed seeing the glimpse into everyone's daily lives & interests.

I'm really loving these photos! We should have a regular "What's Going On This Month" photo thread, because seeing what is taking place in the lives of others is just plain fun.

Justerrilyn - You are incredibly talented! Do you have an outlet for selling your paintings, or are you just doing it for your own enjoyment right now?

We always give my dog a treat after we brush her. She's learned that if she walks outside and rolls around in the dead grass that she will get brushed and get a treat. She is now rolling around in the grass and trotting inside for a treat multiple times a day. LOVE all the pictures.

d_gw I hope your dog never teaches mine any tricks - I can totally picture mine doing the same thing! I give her treats for fetching so now she finds toys in the house and spits them out ostentatiously at my feet.

Robo, love her sweet face. She deserves treats for being attentive and cute :)

That's funny d-gw, what a smartie! Robo your puppy is sooooo cute!

I don't intend to turn this political, but this is how I spent my Monday and Tuesday last week.

Oh, cardigan. I could not be more jealous. Please post more photos!

Me too, Cardigan. Beautiful photos. A young friend just spent her honeymoon on Kauai and posted many photos. I was reminiscing and jealous.

I took this last night sitting on our porch and enjoying the cold front. I live in Texas and it has been pretty hot here.

My son came home last night for Thanksgiving. Please don't mind the rug/lovesac combo. The rug is a placeholder and the LoveSac is non negotiable.

My dog's breeder had puppies.....Fighting temptation to add to the family.

This fun shelf was once a drying rack at a toy factory in Maine (supposedly...). I found it in this fun shop in town yesterday. I'm currently messing around with accessorizing it. They had some gorgeous pieces and I'm going to talk to them about a mantle for our NH house and rehabbing an old bench I have.

I love this thread and seeing bits and pieces of everyone's lives.

Outside, we are also still getting our smaller tomatoes. The bigger ones are long done.

We went to see Stevie Nicks solo with The Pretenders as an opening act. Awesome, and I highly recommend if they are coming your way. Both ladies look and sound great.

Here Chrissie joins Stevie for a song. I won't say which to avoid spoilers. Not the greatest photo. Seems none of mine came out good despite good seats.

Just returned from 5 glorious weeks in southern California visiting family. Temps in the high 70's & low 80's every day. Took this picture of the super moon rising over San Clemente:

Woke up this morning to this:

public service announcement: clean your dryer vents!!! we just moved and they took the washer and dryer with them so we had to buy a new one. lowes wouldn't install and said we needed to call a dryer guy, he said "old vinyl that is cracked you need to replace it. DH sent me a pic of what the guy was cutting out. I won't post it because it was sooooo gross!

I have been enjoying looking out the window in our new house. I am loving the how peaceful it seems around here. this one was when it was 60 during the day and then snowed over night.

In memory of JFK......my John F. Kennedy rose has been in bloom the last few days.

Gsciencechick - I heard about Stevie's tour too late to do anything about tickets, and I'm still kicking myself. When I learned that she was touring with The Pretenders, I just about wet myself. I adore Chrissie, and she and Stevie together? It must've been magic. I'm so glad that you were able to experience it!

Gscience and Ida, I'd love to see that combo on tour too. I don't think they've been anywhere near me though. If so, I've missed it. Wow! Great that you could catch it, G.

Loving all the pics-especially all the fur heads! I'm a terrible photographer-but this is one of my faves.

My DD and her bump. It's my GRANDSON in there!!

The day I wore one new loafer and one old loafer to work.

November will be the last month we have this dear one in our home. We have been fostering him for over a year and he will be moving in with his adoptive family soon. Our hearts will be sore but also joyful knowing he will be raised with love and care. Sweet snuggles while we have them.

    So sweet. Lucky boy!

Puppy Penny loved the first snowfall this morning and had a great romp with her best friend.

    Gorgeous fall day yesterday.

We babysat a foster pitbull for the past few days and she and Penny got along very well. She was a gorgeous girl but so high energy she wore us all out including Penny.

Friday, day after Thanksgiving, we were able to take a bunch of visiting family members to see our not complete cabin. This is my oldest granddaughter in conversation with my husband, her grandfather. They were in deep conversation for a long time.
