Hi! I know this is an older post, but we are in the process of building a house and we're using slate tile in our mudroom and laundry room. Is the pewter grout you used made by CUSTOM? If so, I think I'm going to take your recommendation and use it as well :-)

Sorry for answering so late. We had a small house fire in February and got back in two weeks ago. Yes, the color is pewter by Custom Building Products. We actually had to use it again due to damage to the floor. The new matches very well to the old. Just be aware the color is lighter than the sample on the bag (but we found this to be true for every color we sampled).

I used charcoal gray TEC power grout. Sealed/polished with Quickshine.

Hi! It looks great first off! I am having major trouble finding the 12 by 24 Montauk Blue Slate tile. Is this 16 by 16 or 12 by 12? I really like it as well and was trying to be open minded about the sizing. Thanks! Also, how is the wear and tear? Did you seal it and how is it holding up? Thanks!

Thank you so much! The slate is actually 18" by 18". It was purchased from marblewarehouse.com. The slate was sealed by the installer. We have not had any issues with the slate. To maintain we either clean it with a steam mop or use vinegar and water with a regular mop.

Thanks for that info. I actually ended up getting this stone from Build Direct. Just ordered it! I had one more question, because I can see you have a dog. I have two dogs and was wondering how this slate tile (provided that it has been sealed) has been for you with water spills or any pet urine accidents? Now that I just ordered it, I am of course, getting paranoid. Haha. Thanks for your help!

I was just wondering the same thing about whether these tiles are honed or gauged? I'm not having luck finding a honed montauk blue larger than 16x16.

Hi - I just ordered this 12 x 24 from Home Depot. They have a special on until the 20th. I really love the color as it is gray with just a velvety touch of green. Would like to install it on my stairs too. Any tips on stair installs with this kind of product! Thanks for the tips on the grout too!

My tile installer is going to use a Laticrete grout with the tile...so I'm trying to decide between Platinum (almost matches the stone) or Sterling Silver. Here's the link:

Of course, the colors online are difficult to fully know. So-Of the two colors you were contemplating, was the Pewter darker of the two? I found another chart with different brands but didn't see Polyblend.

I have similar color floor tiles (maybe a shade lighter) but a different size, I am fighting with what grout color to go with, I saw your after pictures using pewters, would it be safe to say the grout color turned out a little lighter then expected? on paper and the grout picture sample looks so dark and blue gray, I don't want the grout color to blend with the tile at all, but don't want TOO much contrast. def. don't want white white, but hopefully pewter will work. please advise - thanks cat
