Laura, I think I can even see the antennas(?) on the third and fourth pics. There are SO many on the third pic, ugh. I'm so happy to hear that you are a rescuer too!

And see dam Mealy bugs!!! I would start with a fresh pot mix and spray!! That is a beauty you cannot deny and you are so lucky..I too rescue plants but more so when I have the room outside to do what I want...Great find Figs!

Thank you Mike. I will repot in the next few days when it is a bit drier outside, we've had some intermittent rain these last couple days. Yes, I lucked out with it. Only $19, so it was a great find, both in cost and potential!

Poor thing! Lucky a connoisseur picked it up. Are you going to spray neem tomorrow? I just realized today I have scale and spidermites on my own trees. I'm waiting for Amazon to deliver the neem oil.

I'm a bit curious about calamondins. I've never tasted one, but I've read that they are quite sour. Do you plan to make marmalade with them or to preserve the zest, or something else?

Of course, they are worth growing for the foliage and scented blossoms alone, but I'm curious about the fruit.

By the way I saw recent pictures of yours in another thread and your variegated pink lemon is just gorgeous. It's what finally convinced me to order one next spring. The colours alone are worth it.

Thanks Jemma! That variegated lemon was not among my favorites until now. It was slow to grow and blossom...now, I love it! Vladimir has posted a recipe for a calamondin marmalade that he makes every year. I hope to try it soon. Also, you can use it in place of lime. I recently used one to marinade fish and it was tasty. I think my daughter will probably eat them out of hand...she loves citrus. The calamondin I used had more juice in one little fruit than many store bought lemons or limes, which was a nice plus ;-)

Laura, I can't believe that the tiny one has so many fruits on it! The larger one will be an absolute beauty once you nurse it back. The little rescue is better than yesterday, but still a long way to go. I'll be back out there this afternoon and hand-wiping the leaves with a soapy mix before I neem it.

Jemma, thank you! Yes, I'll be treating and wiping with soap before I make a mix of horticultural oil and neem. I hope you get your scale and mites under control as well. Ugh, these critters love our trees so much!

You know, it runs in all of us, savers of poor citrus trees..Just don't let John see this thread!! lol

By the way....It is a MUST that you get rid of anything that came in contact with that tree, including that pot...It's the Mealy almost impossible to rid of and they can fall onto anything...That white thing you see on that leaf third pic down is a mealy, and they are worst than any bugs you can get...Great work.

Laura, as soon as the roots to that tree warm up and you start vinegar, it will come back nice and strong. I would not fertilize just yet)

Laura, you might want to think about maybe removing the fruit from the little one. Seems to me that it has a low leaf to fruit ratio.

Thanks Mike and Vladimir! Vladimir, I think I'll do just that...good idea. I'm going to start a thread about the differences between a well cared for tree and these so anyone new can see how big of a difference fertilization and good care can make.

Every fruiting potted tree deserves a nice home and caring hands. I am loving all that you are doing and posting guys and learning a lot from each one of you. Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge. Looking forward to see those trees free of pests and in good health in the future updates.

Laura, I have 2 calamondins with fruit and 6 seedlings. I gave one seedling away. I intend to keep at least 2 or 3 seedlings because I love the fruit and the marmalade. I am on the lookout for calamondin recipes.
