What a beautiful room and gorgeous windows! Here are a few ideas for
you....I kind of like the outside mount curved rods as to not hide those
beautiful windows. You could also go with cellular-- of course repeating what ever you choose on the other windows. My thought is leave them open--no treatments.

As for pattern and the rug, you could go with texture like a seeded curtain, or a waffle. Just to give the curtain interest in case you cannot find a pattern you like.

I think you should go for a patterened curtain. You need to go w a much larger scale pattern than your rug. Scale is one of the most important things when mixing patterns.

There are a few things to consider w your curtains....you don't want them to be too close to your tables/chairs, you don't want the curtains to cut off the nook and make room look smaller, and you don't want the curved window to be covered even when curtains are open (because it's cool). So I would do something like this..a rod curved to fit your space and two wide curtain panels. This way, when they're open, the curved window will be completely uncovered.

What would you think of a very wide horizontal strip in the same color as the rug.

However, not sure how well those rods would work w only two curtain panels. How close would the curtains be to your chair if the curtains were on the outside of the bulkhead??

I wouldn't cover the windows. Its a dining room. No need for privacy.

If you don't need the curtains for privacy, but want to use them for softening the room, for light control, and for sound deadening, why not go across the bulk head? You can run a long rod across the outer wall of the bulk head, and even add a simple window seat, painted to match your trim, and cushions upholstered in fabric that pulls a color from your curtains.

windows are gorgeous! What a shame to cover them! BUT, if you need to, at least you got some great ideas!

OMG - who does windows of different heights in a room? That is so unsettling to the eye and so disproportional. If you do anything you need to fix that issue by adding more molding or doing something to make the window that is too short compared to the others taller. I'd paint the trim the same color as the walls in that room, add trim to the top or fool the eye by hanging drapes at all the same height.

I would put a valance, covering all 3 windows, bring it from the ceiling just to the top of the arched window. Perhaps hang the valance from a black rod. The windows look odd because their different heights. The valance will create the illusion that they are the same height. I would also change the chandelier, it looks traditional and it doesn't match the style of your room.

unfortunately we purchased the house this way and I can't oh my God change the odd look of them nor do I want too, I happen to like it that way !

Again , thank you for your suggestions and I think I'm going to hang them straight across the top of the bulkhead .There is enough room between them and the chairs I feel to make it look dramatic:)

I agree with the last 2 comments, I am fairly new to Houzz and have been a bit taken aback by those type comments. Some will argue that you wanted their opinion but there is no need for rudeness and a way to voice your advice without ripping apart someones look or style. But the best part is you often get more GREAT feedback than not.
