I would say yes. It will help warm up the space and connect the sofa to the tv visually. I love the idea of a grey geometric patterned rug

would a coffee table not make the space look smaller, its already quite small, especially with the dining table?

Instead of a coffee table try one or two "C" tables. People need a place to set a drink, etc.They tuck in nicely and don't take up floor space.

I actually didn't think about C tables, those would work.

I don't love the rug and think a coffee table makes more sense unless you use this space, like watching tv while you stretch, if that's the case keep the rug.

Agree, the artwork was meant to be bigger. It is eye level when standing, might have been the wide angle lense used to take the photo. The concern with a coffee table is that the distance between the end of the dining table and efge of the couch is 70 inches

I love the rug. The white in it pulls in your white dining chairs.
