I've used a rubbing alcohol (2/3) and water (1/3) solution for spots on wool and nylon rugs and on clothing and handbags. Spray on and let it sit for a minute then rub a little and blot with white cloth or paper towel. As with any cleaner, you should probably test it on an inconspicuous spot first.

I hope it works for you. The mixture has become my new favorite cleaner on many surfaces, but don't use it on painted or varnished surfaces!

Club soda is a good spot remover too.
