Need help with my dining/living room

Hello!
My family and I just moved into our very first home. It is an open layout, small home with a natural honey maple kitchen and gray granite that I feel defines the whole space. The space also has natural color wood floors combined with a beige carpet and a chimney surrounded by a somewhat dark chocolate color tile. The wall color is a light beige, almost white looking. Please disregard the furniture, we are seeking to part ways with it :)
We have been trying to find inspiration to decorate the home, but can't find anything. We are not experienced with interior designing and wish to prevent costly mistakes. We would love assistance in figuring out the type of dining and living/family room furnishings and decor that might be appropriate for our home. We have even considered painting the cabinets a different color! since we can't even seem to find an appropriate backsplash that we like. Sigh.
We like neutral rooms with delicate pops of color in the details... we like greens, blues, yellows and even that bright coral that seems to be popular (we saw it on many model homes). Any suggestions at all? do any of you have a similar home and have done something with it you love and could recommend? Thank you!

You pretty much have a blank slate to work from which is great and gives you lots of design options.

If you are planning on some throw rugs/area rugs which I would suggest, then go from there for your pops of colors. Get a rug with multiple colors in it and start pulling out pillows, wall art etc. from the colors in the rugs. Blues and greens are great colors to work with as they are the colors of nature and go with everything. Your accent can be the yellow in things such as candles etc. Best wishes on the new home!

Thank you Creatively Yours Custom Inc!!! that does sound like a great place to start with the colors. Would you have any suggestions as to what furniture style may go with our space? all the inspiration photos similar to what I have that I find are VERY mid-century style... and I'm not sure I love that style.

It seems that green is your only actual color right now. You could run with that and paint the 'wall' part of the island to match the couch. I would wall mount your TV. You could get a swing mount if you like being able to see it from the kitchen.

very cute! congrats. I would love to perk up that kitchen a bit! really nice layout. A couple of counter height stools would be nice. can you do any pendant lighting over the island? I would for sure get some hardware for those cabinets. Helps keep them cleaner too. Personally, given the granite, I would opt for a white paint. If you like the countertop and will be keeping it, then white goes better than that wood tone. If you plan on changing countertop, then pick something warmer that goes w/that wood tone.

you could even to some glass in the doors (very easy to do yourself and cheap) and pick a marble or white subway backsplash. notice the hardware

a simple wood table to warm things up, along w/some shades (not necessarily this color). you could even do a built in bench under the window like this. great for kiddos.

Thank you Emily! we love the idea to wall mount of TV with a swing so we can see it even from the kitchen. Green is the only color we had in our previous apartment and we do like the green. However, we will be getting new furniture, the green sofa and dining table and chairs will be donated. However, we are still unsure what style might go well with our cabinet and granite color... :/

Thank you as well Beth!!! we were already considering painting our kitchen white, is just much simpler to decor, I think. I love the images you sent and ideas you shared! thank you very much. I actually loved the table and chairs on the second picture. We will look a bit more to see if we can actually work around the natural cabinet color we have, if not, I guess we will be making the transition to a white kitchen.
