This calculator may help you in figuring out your measurements for cutting. Seems like a pretty easy pattern to figure out after you get your center square determined.

Loralee, I don't really use patterns for table runners. This weekend I had a piece of fabric in a Christmas motif, cut it at about 15" w x 30" long (this depends on the best use of fabric, really!) It was a print that could easily be just quilted, rather than pieced. Found a compatible backing but was too short so I pieced the ends with another fabric - more of a solid look red. I got the batting and cut all three pieces to about the same size, started doing some quilting and then squared it all up. Made the binding and stitched it on the front - turned to the back. Now I'll just hand stitch the binding to the back, clip the threads here and there...voila! Ready to mail. That's for something really simple and quick.

This table runner sounds incredibly quick. I am sure all of us would love to see a picture of it when you are finished with it.

My plan may be to stitch around the blocks or perhaps sew diagonal across the whole table runner both directions.

Don't know why 2 pictures are here!! But, as you can see, the fabric immediately lends itself to some quick quilting. Since the backing piece was a tad too short, I just pieced on some red, then used the same thing for binding. Finished size is 17 x 34". This fall I made several 'quick' runners, too and will find pics of some of them, too, if you are interested.

I am still working on my table runner. I sewed together two more blocks this morning.

I am going to keep my eyes open for this type of fabric.

Here is the table runner I made today for my daughter who loves birds. This one is for every day. I was going to trim it in red but she has two Christmas ones.

Still really want to make the Peppermint candy table runner posted above.

Wow!! Loralee!! That is sooo nice! I love the colors, the pattern AND the fabrics! Great job! (now...did you use a pattern? or put it together yourself??) ...it's just great!

The pattern I used is called Simply a Pleasure.

I have used this pattern a few years ago.

It is a lot more difficult to make when I want the birds to show up in specific areas. It goes together much quicker when I don't need to worry about placement of my design.

I can't wait for my daughter to see it at Christmas. I would love to find other patterns and use the Christmas red fabric to go with it for a Christmas table runner for my other two daughters or the granddaughters.

It is very similar to the free pattern that I had been looking for that I posted at the beginning of this post.
