I agree that metal could work well with the industrial feel of the space. The photo is 1/4" raw plate steel which could also be blackened for a more consistent look if the raw steel is too organic.

Are you talking new cabinets or painting the current ones? Keeping the same counters? You're going to need to coordinate tonally with those, which may require a cream rather than a white, which feels wrong in your space, so maybe some shade of gray? For sure, plan to fill the current knob holes so that you can update with larger and more modern pulls.

I would go light grey on cabs

Are counters staying. If so post pics of them. Not sure Grey would work.

Yes the cabinets are staying i was contemplating grey myself a bit darker than the floor. The hardware will definitely be getting changed out as well, i was also contemplating using the kitchen as a accent areas maybe painting or doing something to the walls to make it a separate space.

The light is so poor, what color is the floor?

The floor is a light grey color here are some more pics I'll get some with better lighting today!

I like the current cabinet color with that countertop.

More photos, unfortunately veneer on the cabinets is not in good shape they will have to be painted.

    Consider just replacing.

Spend about 5K on an electrician run new wire to put in new LED can lighting, LED tape under cabinet lighting, LED over cabinet lighting, LED toekick lighting, and LED pendant lighting. This is the darkest kitchen we've ever had to try to muddle through as to what it actually looks like. I still don't think I have a clue as to it's shape, or layout, or individual components.

I think this is a great space and you have many options.

    Kitchen:

I like this carpet for the center of the living room. I would like the edges to have the lighter color larger. This is a start:

A: Banquette, back of the banquette a striped colorful back tall, and the top is in a wave. The seat cushion can be any color in the stripe. I am leaning towards the pale gold, yellow tones. This will start to match the top of the counters and have a bit of fun. B: WallcoveringThe cabinets see below and above them, if you want to be bold, I would use a wild paper directly behind the island. Not anywhere else. Just on the cabinets as listed below.

    banquette Cannot get larger photo.

    D. Floor

alternate dining chairs with dark wood top and base table

This table could have a zinc top with a black base. I liked the concept of having it expand. The chairs above come in a variety of colors.

Alternate - But keep banquette in front of island.

This is a fun carpet and an option. With the banquette, keep the colors a pale yellow/gold with the walnut table and simple white chairs.

    I love these lights

    Sofa

The color rug above in the center.

You will need to do one wall with shelving and TV, I suggest you go on line and look at Modern Design Shelving - They have great items with doors and cabinets and lateral files and desk units. All in one.

For the bedroom, it looks like a built in area for a bed, use it, and on Houzz there is a window treatment.

Sheers hanging from the ceiling on a rod, circular, I would use these around the tub area. They can be tied up, pulled back, but create and elegant divider and a sexy feel to the room.

Window Covering for the large window go the Shades.com There you will find a set of Vertical shades, pull left or right stack and they will filter light, let you see out and look great.

    I think your done.

    Kitchen information below.

Love this color, brightens up the area. The banquette would look great with a stripe and this same color on the seats.

    Table and Chairs:

    Cabinets behind island only:

I would remove all the fronts on the cabinets and put in glass shelves. Here, I would use beautiful white teapots, ceramics all white - vases, or whatever you like to collect and display an all white collection. The inside of these cabinets would be lit.

Above the cabinets is where I would put the above wall paper. P & P papers.

Try Modern Fabrics for the second option. And, lots of wall paper firms have a large print fun floral fruit design. It is again that same yellow/gold color.

The microwave must change to black.

The oven should be put is with gas burners if possible and be black. Make items you do not want to bring your eye to black.

The island is odd, yes, we all agree.

So, I would use this as my table.

    In front of Island:

Build a banquette into the front of the Island. To do this, I would bring the back higher than the island by 9". This way the small shelf could be used in the kitchen to put dishwashing liquid and all those items only real ocd folks hide. Most of us have stuff out.

Th banquette should have a curve on the sides to mimic the curve in the window.

Color on the seats: Plain, preferably an ironcloth, mohair, never wears out.

Back strip to elongate the item.

From here you have a table, I would make the table an oval shape facing the front of the room, single base, and simple chairs around the table. The chairs would be a collection of different ones that you locate from various finds, swap meets, antique stores etc. The seats have the same color as the banquette. Pretty chairs though.

    Color: A pale mahogany.

From here you have the floor, I would have it painted in the same color as the cabinets, or in the color of the table. But dark, not light.floor photo above.

    gotta go enjoy A

    A
stainless steel or aluminum backsplash for your island could brighten up the
space, especially if the space gives you good lighting from your arched window
    (metal reflects light nicely).

Don't make everything gray because the space looks dark. We would suggest white shaker cabinets, but if these cabinets are definitely staying, then we would paint them Ivory white. As for countertops, we suggest Steel Gray Granite. We've recently installed it in a kitchen with white cabinets and they look great together.

The countertops have a golden color to them and will not be being replaced I just need something that goes with the gold color and the light grey of the floors.

The counters are pink. Run with it. Pink and gray is a classic Art Deco combination.

Sorry my photos are all gone, I did not download properly.

    I will try again:

The Island, I put a banquette onto the front, this would be taller than the island. The shelf could than be used for all those things that stay out.

    The colors were as follows:

    Banquette front of island

    Tall, Back colors fabric

Seat, nice deep with a good round edge.

(Note) since you do not need storage you could run the fabric down the front with a nice big round seat front. Very deco.

I know some of you mentioned lighting, should i go with a cooler color or something a bit warmer?
