How To Pull This Space Together?

We recently finished a remodel and filled the space with a lot of neutral furniture. And now we don't know what to do with the windows or accessories to make it feel cohesive and less blah. Yes, we will be adding some art to the walls soon but it just feels uninspired right now and those gray chairs are just...lonely. Help!

Try to get the furniture off the walls a bit and into conversational arrangements. Put a larger table and a reading lamp between the gray chairs. Get a coffee table for the sectional. I can't really figure out how these spaces link together, so it's hard to make more suggestions on arranging things...

Also, be sure that any new art has color, not more pallor like the picture in your third photo. And then take some of that color for accent pillows, vases, maybe a rug for the sectional area... don't let yourself be trapped by all the neutrals.

Thank you! I should have put the photos in order. The rooms all flow into each other. Sunroom into the dining area, to the fireplace/sofa/chairs. I just ordered a rug for the sunroom, more grey/beige. I could kick myself...

All neutral spaces can be lovely but what you need is variety in tones and textures. Take inspiration from something like this

I'd start with having a professional come to your home to consult about drapery and Roman shades. That will make a big difference and help it to feel more finished off.

A few quick visual fixes that bring a human/natural element to your room:

--Move and angle the gray chairs so they flank the fireplace and face the leather sofa. That will create a conversational feeling. Put a nice floor lamp behind one of the chairs and small side tables next to each one to make the chairs inviting and a place to curl up and read.

--Get a beautiful large colored tray--teal, or yellow--or a rustic wood tray--for the top of your leather coffee table. Arrange books, candles, and other items that interest you on the coffee table.

--Order a generous stack of white birch logs to place in the firebox and a bunch in a big basket on the hearth. Natural elements add texture to a room. The birch logs will pull the eye down from the TV.

--For the windows, you could get really interesting Roman matchstick shades in a natural pattern for texture or cream drapes with a bit of an accent color pattern.

Wow! I love all these ideas (I'd been debating some of these very things but didn't know if they were the 'right' thing to do). Really inspired - I've already moved the chairs ;)

Love to see photos as you make some small changes. Here are some rooms with styled coffee tables somewhat like yours that add some homeiness and hospitality to a room. May I suggest that any future pieces you add are in something other than leather or brown? Pattern, texture, contrast, and complementary colors add interest to a room and relieve it of the blahs.

You have a fabulous start with your home. I love neutral foundations for their flexibility and calm feeling. You'll enjoy what you have purchased thus far for a long time because it will easy to change up your space with accessories. Repost a pic of the living room with the furniture rearranged when you get a moment. There's a lot of opportunity there.

The space is sooo lovely! You have a great canvas to start with!

The windows are looking fairly stark, and I would really recommend adding some Belgian linen curtains.

Right now, as for color, I'm leaning toward a light neutral:

Perhaps curtains in a Belgian Flax Linen in Off White?

And maybe even shades in the same color.

Belgian Flax Linen in Natural might look nice depending on the wall color.

Belgian Flax Linen in Optic White would pair well also.

A Sheer Off White would give it an airy, dreamy look.

Great choices so far! Neutral can be great. Add drapes to your dining area, and either drapes or woven wood shades to your living room. Pull the gray chairs closer toward the sofa, away from the wall slightly. I would use a round gold/glass table between them. Once you have the rug in the sunroom, add a large round glass coffee table, and one end table. Hopefully you can keep those sunroom windows bare. Just those minor changes will make a big difference. This neutral room works because of the drapes, textures (lighting and stool), touches of color (lamps, pillows) , live plant, and of course the same wonderful windows you have.

This is unreal - you all have been incredible. Been rearranging, looking online, shopping and finally feel like a plan is coming together. THANK YOU!

Moving the brown leather ottoman over to the sectional is a fantastic idea! It provides a great contrast there. Love the rug choices as well. Yes, a rectangular coffee table would work much better in front of the brown leather sofa--maybe wood and glass--something other than leather to provide contrast.

You have a great foundation and wonderful suggestions offered by the Houzz community. In addition to the above advice, I'd add a tall green plant in the corner near the fireplace and a beautiful fixture over the round DR table. It's hard for me to tell, but a rug under the DR table would add more texture and warmth if it wouldn't be too crowded next to the LR rug. Please post "after" pics as there is so much potential and adding window panels, Roman shades or natural blinds, more lighting, etc. will really enhance your space. Have fun!
