We are planning for new home construction. Yesterday we were to make our selections for fireplace. My husband and I had different ideas of what we wanted and now I am second guessing.
We are building a colonial or french provincial influence home, the exterior will have a traditional, symmetrical look. We are including some distressed hardwood, crown molding and wainscoting so there is traditional influence on the interior as well. I expect many of my fabric and furniture choices to be less traditional though with lots of clean lines. I was drawn to the gas inserts without logs, my husband thinks they are too modern. I figured that mantel, stonework, surround could influence the look. I feel like logs might look dated and I really love how the rocks look...am I wrong here, do the landscape, log free fireplaces belong in very modern design? I also want something that won't look out of style 10 years late.
