So, the bath has beige as well as white tile? Wow...is it in your budget to have the tile repainted (it actually comes out quite nice when done well) to all one color? If so I suggest sticking with the white and covering the turquoise as well as the beige.

I hope I am wrong and the whole tile job is only white and turquoise - much easier to deal with! Consider painting the wall above something more dramatic that the turquoise - charcoal grey or an apple green - and by all means, hang a funky shower curtain in a colorful, dramatic mid century fabric (I would hang it very high, close to the ceiling, so you may want to invest in some inexpensive indoor / outdoor fabric and hem it yourself). Use tabs or shower curtain hooks so that the curtain slides open easily. Add a couple of funky, colorful mid-century elements like an oversize colorful atomic clock (Home Goods always has some for around $30), or an inexpensive colorful, abstract painting (again - cheap at Home Goods) and towels in a deeper shade of whatever you paint the walls. One of the best ways to deal with an unpleasant but unchangeable design element is to play it up and embrace it!

Denise, the FLOOR tile is beige (sorry for the confusion), lower tile is white with accent strip turquoise. THANKS for the nod to embracing the funky! Right now this fun little home is the Easter Egg house.... with all different mismatched choppy colors in all the rooms. The adjoining master bedroom has a sitting room that is a pale dusty green, and I was going to go with a soft grey on the bedroom walls. This bedroom & bath have next to NO natural light. I am considering using apple green or charcoal grey in BOTH the bath and the bedroom, but afraid the grey would turn my ugly lil' bath into a cave! i am currently obsessed with spring-yellowy greens..... should i go pale, or try for more saturated tone. Charcoal gray towels?? Whatcha' think?

ASVInteriors, thanks for the photo! I wish my bath had this much light. Down the road a ways, when we finish some of the other updates/renovates, we will expand and add windows, but not yet ($$). I like the accents of purple, tho........ nice room! Yep, Denise has some great ideas......... :)

I'm a sucker for saturated yellow greens! My whole house and wardrobe are full of the (and turquoise and teak to be honest) and I find these greens very happy, uplifting colors. It really is a question of your tolerance for color. Also, how much artificial light is present? Overhead and sidelights at the mirror? If you can get enough voltage in artificial light, almost any color can work. If you go with the softer yellow greens (like apple) use a semi gloss paint to up the shine and reflective factor. However, be aware that the shinier the paint the more obvious any wall flaws. If you go with a more saturated like or chartreuse green, use satin paint. The same with the deep grays: darker = shinier.

Oh also, in either case, cover as much of the floor as you can with an indoor /outdoor runner or carpet piece (cut to size from a remnant) in white and gray ( chevron pattern? Greek key? Alhambra pattern? Just found a bunch for a client on amazon and overstock) and accessorize with the grey and white towels. I think this bath could be really cool and funky!

I do like this bathroom with the beige and white and blue. In fact I would add more blue to it, for example a very light ocean blue wall colour plus ocean theme decor on the walls and shelves. Make the more out of what you have.

Good point on the wall-flaws, Denise! I would love to go chartreuse, but my poor sweetheart hubby is a color-novice, and might freak! Just went to Home Depot for a pretty Spring-Apple green sample.........GOOD SO FAR! The walls have a light dusting of this nasty popcorn-ny texture stuff on them, so I brushed it with the sander for DIY knockdown texture. Like the grey towels, nad Overstock... here i come for a rug! This is getting back to FUN again, thanks for the creativity boost, Denise, and Judit and ASV ! Pictures at 11 (or 12 or 1, whenever!) :0)
