Wow. There's definitely a lot going on there. The floors don't really work well with the counters or backsplash and the backsplash is very dark. I don't think there's much you can do unless you want to redo the backsplash, in which case I would choose a solid color tile of the lightest shade in your counter or a white/off-white.

Color of clay dirt of tile floor? Repeat it in texture like this? Is it too late... idk. Without the wood 'valance' cornice....

What color would you recommend painting them? Ive thought about doing it many times but havent come to any conclusion yet. I also do not like the tile at all, but unfortunately that was already there.

I think a bold black and white strip would be amazing! Super fun and kinda retro..seems like it would go with your kitchen.

I agree that it's the floors that are the issue, but I don't agree with the stripe suggestion. That just adds yet another competing focal point. I would paint the floors a semi-gloss black, and if you need some detailing, do dark to medium gray on the natural grout lines to define the tiles. You'll get the feel of the tiles in the color you want without detracting from the backsplash.

Once the room is all black and white you can mix patterns as long as they are not the same scale...it will be so fun and retro!

Very back and forth indeed! Are you going to change the drawer pulls to a silver color? I think that would help a lot to go with the gray in the tile. The gold is just another thing right now that is making your kitchen not look new despite all your time put in. Then, the floor. Paint or replace with gray tile, or medium/dark wood (look).

If you can not replace the floor, paint dark gray or black!

Green and Brown mix would go well with this kitchen.

Change the flooring to black or black & white, and run the pattern of the flooring to complement the pattern in the backsplash, in other words, on the diagonal. Change the white window blind to black. Or, try a curtain in solid black in a textured fabric (burlap or linen). Alternatively, you might try a large black and white swirly pattern to break up the geometric pattern in the backsplash and flooring.

Hi....take a look at armstrongs vinyl tiles....you fill in your exsiting grout lines..making floor even..then glue down these fantastic 12x24 tiles which you can then grout...they come in many styles and colours including wood...i often use this method in condos and the results are amazing...very reasonable fix specially if you can dyi..good luck

What is the color and brand of your floor tiles? We like them but your individual elements of flooring, counters and backsplash all compete with each other, you're going to have to redo one of more of them.

Thank you all so much for the feedback. I definitely think I am finally going to paint the floors. They have been very hard to work around, but I could not convince my dad to replace them.

@spiritflower I am not sure the brand. I didn't choose the tiles. They have been here. They are not as dark as they look in the picture though. They have are a mix of a pale orange and burnt orange. They have a lot pf pink undertones.

You might also get some mileage out of a valance at the window, which could pull in some of the green/black of the counter and backsplash and make them look less isolated.

Look for an indoor/outdoor rug, maybe a runner, to cover the floor.

Go for a light gray solid color.

Get rid of the blinds. Replace with a cafe curtain in a solid color like pale gray to de-emphasize the window. Gray not bright yellow.

Consider enclosing the whole area under the sink by adding cabinet doors. That would minimize the floor area and give you extra storage. The open area doesn't seem to be of any use.

Replace the yellowish light bulb with a whiter light

@leelee the reason for that space is because my sister in in a wheelchair.

well, if you are actively using the sink for a wheelchair user, you could add a fabric skirt under the sink to minimize the long run of unhappy colored floor.
