No, not native at all!! It is Choisya ternata, Mexican orange, a popular evergreen landscape shrub in this area. Will often produce a second, sparse bloom cycle in fall (typical bloom period is usually in May). Can be subject to foliar damage in a cold winter but usually recovers easily.

Shirley, it also comes in a gold leafed form - 'Sundance' - that really needs a bit of afternoon shade to avoid a bleached-out look. And a hybrid, 'Aztec Pearl', that offers much narrower, almost lacy trifoliate foliage, a more compact habit and I think an even heavier bloom and fragrance factor :-)

I have one in my backyard and it's in full bloom now - or was earlier today. I've not seen it in bloom at this time of the year before, so I don't know what it will look like after a 28F night. I love mine. It's now about 6' x 6' or more. When it gets too big, I prune it (just back, not down to the ground) and it does just fine. LONG bloom season and lovely fragrance.

Added bonus, it's one of the very few things on the hill leading down from my house that the deer have never touched. 4 years, not the green or gold leafed forms.
