Are you quilting this weekend? Dec. 9-11

We got home about noon today. Yesterday we traveled back home to visit friends and for me to go to my former quilt group's Christmas party. I didn't tell them I was coming and my friend walked in first and while everyone was greeting her, I walked in. I hadn't seen them for over 2 years. After lots of hugs, we ate dinner, played Christmas Bingo and had a gift exchange. It was wonderful!

I printed the third mystery quilt clue when we returned home. It looks like an easy clue this week. I don't know if I will have time to sew this weekend. I have to go to two birthday parties for Sami, a family party and a party for friends at Gymboree. She is 3 years old on Saturday.

Are you quilting this weekend?

Awhile back, I had made up a number of rail fence variation blocks. They have been sitting next to the machine calling me. So this afternoon, when I should have been doing something else, I got at it. I now have ten rows of eight blocks. Next will be joining the rows. I think I will call this quilt Everything but the kitchen sink. Scrappy, scrappy!

Trying the edit button without success. Just wanted to add that I finished this stocking for GGD this week.

Cute stocking. We're expecting 5-8" of snow starting Sat night, so I may be holed up sewing on Sunday. I hope to get to church and our Sunday School class party Sunday night though. I'll head to Joann's first thing tomorrow morning to get some fabric for the ruffle for the apron. And I plan on starting the throw.

I'm working on that third clue, too. Don't know if I'll get it done before I head off to Mom's Tuesday night but I'll get caught up eventually.

I'm working on the crazy, bright row-by-row quilt gifted to me by an old neighbor. I'm just finishing row six of eight. Then there's the corners, sashing and borders. I just had a great idea. I wasn't looking forward to the last two rows - one is all flying geese (there's not enough fabric to make them the easy way) - the other is a spool pattern with Y seams. But I can make any block I'd like that I have enough fabric for. I'll have to spend a little time looking on Quilters' Cache to find 8" blocks that might work. A much better idea!

I have also decided to make different cookies this year. For about 45 years, I've been making the same cookies. Time for a change. I found four or five new recipes, and that's my project for this weekend.

I'll be working on the Quiltville mystery today. Tomorrow I play bells at church then we're having a rehearsal in the afternoon to get ready to play at Disney next Saturday.

Yay, Rita! I'm glad you kept at it and got it done. No more navy blue, right? I'm about to start knitting a navy blue hat for my BIL for Christmas.

Lois, great idea! Yes, make any blocks you like. No one will know but you!

Theresa, I can't wait to see your rail fence quilt. It sounds great! And the stocking is lovely.

I love the quilt Beth. That should remind her of the beach!

Beautiful quilt, Beth! Love your fabric choices.

I sandwiched a scrappy quilt and have another one ready to sandwich. Probably won't get much else done this weekend. We had a hockey game Friday night, a breakfast this morning, church get together tonight, and another Christmas party tomorrow night. Church in the morning and football game in the afternoon. Busy time of year!

I am not in the quilting room this weekend. I got home last night about midnight from Dallas, so today is 'catching up.'

Pretty quilt! I'm not a big rust fan, so I'd go yellow or purple, but obviously many people like rust. They'll love it no matter what color you choose,.

I finished the quilted purse that I'll be teaching in the Spring. Have to finish the supply list/homework instructions to be turned in to the coordinator tomorrow.

May try to do some work on the wedding quilt, but have to help DS make some peppermint bark for Scouts tomorrow.

Cold and dreary here today; feels like snow but not quite cold enough.

I tried to clean up the cutting table where all the fabrics from the Lotto blocks landed. I have some serious re-orging to do in my bins. May be using some of Lois' techniques to make sense of it all. January!!

And I found the New Year's mystery by Merry Mayhem. Thinking about it.

Jen, it looks like winter in central FL, too. Yesterday we had low, gray clouds and this morning we had fog. Though it just LOOKS like winter...temp was about 75 yesterday and it's supposed to be in the 80s this week. :)
