I like the orb/sphere one you suggested. Those tend to work well in 2-story entries

The entry and adjacent rooms are getting painted in a few weeks. It will be a grey/tan color. I think it's Benjamin Moore functional grey.

Since your dining room is "transitional" and your stair and entry are high, I would consider a much different but transitional look. Here is one that I think would be great.

Flo I'm not sure our dining fixture is considered "transitional" as I'm not familiar with the labels. We just liked the fixture.

These come in a variety of looks, but are quite reasonably priced and look fantastic in high ceiled areas like yours. The round globes would work well with your dining room fixture. The ones posted with arms and glass shades are way too traditional and outdated for your home. Although it looks fairly traditional. I will post a picture from a home I put this in with a 26' ceiling and dome. this has a round or square top plate and you can decide how many dropped balls you want. this one had 11. We were able to hang each one at the distance we wanted for the best overall look. They come with long wires and you have the ability to "customize". Gives lots of light too. You can also get in different colored glass. Like these amber ones.Fun, interesting and a definite statement! I think you could probably do one with around 5 to 9 balls. Odd number is best for the lengths to come out right.

I consider your dining room fixture transitional because it combines arms and candles (traditional) with orb (globe look) which is more modern. That makes it "transitional". Your kitchen pendants are more modern but nods to traditional. Your stairway woods are traditional so you can go in many directions. But dining and entry should blend nicely. I posted pictures. Did you see them? I think our posts crossed. I love the dining room fixture and i think it looks awesome!

Thank you Flo. I see your pictures now. And thank you for explaining transitional etc for me. That makes sense. Here is another chandelier I found. In oil rubbed bronze or polished chrome. Both with crystals. The 6 light is 54 high by 30.75 wide. It comes in a 12 light too and that one is 65.25 high and 42 wide.

Our foyer ceiling I guess is 18' not 24 like I thought.

I LOVE our dining room light and wish that one came larger because we'd just get another for the foyer if it did.

This is interesting and reminded me of the orb in the dining room chandelier and the bronze coloring. Might be a nice combination.

Flo, I like the sphere one you posted but not crazy about the reddish color and the measurements are a bit small. It looks a lot bigger in the pics than the measurements suggest.

It is 24" round. How wide is your entry on the floor?

The floor is probably 7-8ft not including the stairway. The ceiling is probably 11ft including the stair space. The fixture we have now is centered on the ceiling. We tend to prefer larger size.

Your DR light could if need be - called - a futuristic retro both? What did you think of the 3 that I posted? The center sphere: would you call it 'tough' looking? :)

I'm not up on the labels so I don't know how to answer that part of your question.

Has DRs top and bottom 'rings' and also similar look -on the insides - of the initial sphere you posted. It wouldn't post the satin nickel one [course you click MORE INFO]

I found one that "speaks" of the dining room but overall look is wider but interesting. See what you think of this one.

Has the orb feature and candle arms and candlesticks and has what looks like black and gold inside the rings. Pretty interesting. I think it could work!

You might have to order extra chain, but this is really a good companion to your dining room fixture, which I LOVE! Where did you get that fixture?

She is looking for a "companion" to the dining room one and larger, which this is. You don't have to be real tall, even with higher ceiling, because the main view of this chandelier is from the floor of the entry, and getting a glimpse of the dining room at the same time. It would also look interesting from top of stairs. Due to the design of the dining room fixture, we need to stay "chic" rather than rustic I believe.

I kind of like that one except for the gold. We don't have other gold items or accents and aren't crazy about the color.

The dining room fixture is by Kalco and I think we ordered it from them or lighting plus or a similar site.

Everdebz, that one is nice. I do wish the whisky barrel was replaced by nickel or bronze though.

If you like this one, it is part of the Kichler Piper collection and there are other similar styles & sizes in this grouping.

The one I posted knods to 2 of the ones you posted. It is transitional and I think would look great with your kitchen lights. This one can hang with a longer chain and look elegant and welcoming. It should also have enough bulbs to put off light for your large space. I think it comes in 2 different sizes. I hope this helps. Best of luck!

The bottom has the roundness of your orb. It has arms like another of your pics. And the finish of one of your pics. The finish also matches your kitchen. I'm curious what you think. Elk is a great line. I have 2 by Elk in my butlers pantry. The look clean, elegant and timeless

Here are 2 more. The are made by Jeremiah aka craftmade. This brand is less costly than Elk and both are great products. Both also come in different finishes.

I thought there was gold in your dining room one, so I kept searching. Here are a couple I found.

it has the orb look, with wood, and more polished metal but the wood I think would stand out a bit better than all brushed nickel against the stairs, etc.

This has some similar shapes and is in a real nice finish.

The picture of the dining fixture might be hard to tell the colors. It has brushed nickel, polished nickel and oil rubbed bronze.

Can you post another can you post another pic of it? And metals don't have to match now days. You are welcome to mix them even in the same room.

So far, this is my favorite. It has the gold inside, but you could do some rub on metallic if you wanted to change that up a bit. I think the gold would be very interesting. It doesn't have to be "matchy-matchy", it is the basic shape that is nice and since this is going to hang high over head, the black will be the predominate color. I did a mock up, but kind of hard since I can't remove the existing chandelier, but it will give you an idea of size and look.

Here is a picture of our dining room fixture, from the manufacturer site.

I looked it up and it has a foyer companion fixture in the grouping, but it is much too small as you might already know. I love the fixture. That is where I found the fact that the rings are their special nickel and it is very unique and special. Finding something to go with it is challenging, but we will find something. Do you favor something tall and narrow? Some of your postings have that shape. If so, we can concentrate on that shape then try to find the shape with some of the features or elements of the dining room fixture.

We have this is our to story foyer it's large bit works on the space. It's from Lamps Plus.

That is so funny! I just found that one for you on LampsPlus.com and am here going to send it to you!! Here it is. It is the same one only in the brushed silver look.

On sale too! I think this would work really well. Just don't hang it too high! And you get 12' wire but only 6' chain so I would call and request extra chain so you have plenty. They usually send it free, but might charge since this is on sale. Get the matching chain because any "match" will be off just a little. Merry Christmas!

Oh, and it is 29" round (nice and big) and 33" high, so very good size for your two story entry.

Sharon's is the one I posted. Did your realize that. The globe with the crystals are overdone and on the way out, so I wouldn't recommend those.

Of course, Irene, everything has its day. I didn't mean to offend you, sorry about that. These are still being used, however, they have gotten a bit "overused" so when that happens, manufacturers start inventing new things to tempt us. For example, we have been doing Rubbed Oil Bronze and Brushed Nickel for about 7 years, and now you will start to see a lot of what is being called "aged gold" or "champagne" (silver/gold combo) in hardware. New looks, and some we will like and some not. The aged gold is starting to grow on me, but not sure it will be as big as oil rubbed bronze. We will see. Normally, BLING is my middle name, but since C F's dining room has only small details of crystal or acrylic, trying to stay true to that wish.
