I have, and still use, Bluing. If you are referring to the type of bluing that one would add to the final rinse of a load of whites, then I can probably chime in. You can dye with bluing, I suppose. However, it does wash out within a handful of washes. If you want to dye, try a fabric dye, like Rit. They are not expensive, you can do it in the washer, and the dyes will set permanently.

Thank you Joel. I thought the same thing about temporary and washing it. I have dyed things in my washer before but unfortunately I can no longer go down the stairs to the laundry room. I was going to do this by hand anyway.. Going to give it a try and will let you know how it works. They were only $4 from Walmart clearance so it will not be a huge loss. Thank you again which I would have written anyway without being told to "say thank you/." lol

Rite also has a liquid dye that you could just add a few drops in each dark load...probably would work better than bluing as Joel says.

Great idea about the liquid dye in dark loads. I did put my darkish green jeans in a basin with hot water & a lot of bluing. Left them for a few hours, rinsed them out & then did a final rinse/soak with vinegar. The water was clear when I dumped it out it which was good. They are now dry & I must say they are several shades darker. Sort a a dark teal which is more what I wanted. mamapinky when you said "Rite" did you mean Rite Aid? I would like to get some. Well do feel stupid! I looked up liquid dye on Google & found Rit dye immediately. I'm sure that is what you meant to write & I should have been able to discern that. Anyway thank you again for a great tip.
