Morning all!
We just bought this 1950's ranch and need help with an exterior color scheme. We're doing lots of work to the house including a sizable addition on the back and small extension under the porch roofline to the left, both with siding. I'm having problems coming up with a color scheme for painting the brick and siding and hope you all can help.

The windows are being replaced and have been ordered. They are white. The metal columns and railings are being replaced with wood. The roof is grey with a hint of green. The addition at the back will have a gable end perpendicular to the existing roof line. It will have a siding at the bottom, a band at gutter height and shake siding above.

The front roof line will stay as it is for now as all our funds are going into the living space in the interior of the house. The long term plans for the house call for gables above the front door along the lines of the second picture with shake in the gable end.

I've driven around town looking for painted brick houses I like. I like the look of the two story house in the third picture. I'm thinking something like that for our ranch. That is where my color ability stops. What do I do for the siding? Would a light sand color work? What about the shake, the banding, the gutters, the shutters? It makes my head hurt to think about it. I don't want a solid colored block, and would like some subtle depth / character / interest.

Anybody have some thoughts they'd like to share? I'd be more than happy to read them. Thank you!
