Dear Arif,

I think we buy the new hybrids every year and treat them like they'll break! I have many in the front garden bed that are probably far healthier than those I restrict to pots. Maybe it's such a struggle because we are working against Mother Nature, while you work with her! I know it's so much easier to grow them in the ground, but I keep them in pots to try and keep a handle on pest and disease. Most have been grown in the greenhouse, and some aren't too happy about it!

The ones in the front bed are MV- free. Not sure how they have escaped that fate as all the others growing in beds around the neighborhood seem to have it.

I am now a retired/tired gardener. My garden area has reduced to about 30%, the third generation has taken over most of it for their vehicles and swimming pool. The Amaryllis had to share their beds with Daylilies and now to my new love Liliums. I am also forced to restrict to only a few annuals.
