I have all the pieces cut to make 120 of these blocks for Bonnie Hunter's Star Struck quilt while I'm in Hawaii this winter. I absolutely love how it's coming together. The light stars are the center of each block, but when it's assembled, your eyes see the dark brown stars as dominate and the light stars as background. The reds are accents. I have a Scrappy Mountain Majesties ready to assemble too. Oh, I just thought of another small project I could take along. It's a small wall hanging of kimonos using scrap Asian fabric. That should carry me through the end of March.

I should have said 30 blocks. There are 120 quarter blocks. That would have been one colossal quilt!

I usually don't care for scrappy, but your block looks awesome!!!!! Enjoy your time in Hawaii.

Thanks, everyone, for all your support. I'm having trouble waiting until I get to Hawaii to work on it. I want to do it "right now." Linda, "obsession" is the word I would use. You are a very prolific quilter yourself.

Really nice block! I thought about following a mystery, but it seems too much of a commitment right now...then I see what you mystery followers create and I kick myself! This will be lovely! Have fun in Hawaii!

Your sewing on this block is perfect. I love how the colors go so well together.

I was thinking this was one huge quilt when you first mentioned 120 blocks. How will you ever be able to stay in doors and sew while in Hawaii?

Loralee, I quilt mostly in the evenings. It gets dark early in the winter, just like on the mainland, and I get tired of TV, so I quilt. Being there for three months is a lot different than vacationing for 2 weeks. You need to have something to keep you busy.

You are so right about having the extra time if you are there for 3 months. When I have gone for 2 weeks it was hurry to see everything on two Islands.

I'm loving that block. I have some scrappy aquas and some lime green I might try that with.
