When it warms up it might recover and green up again, I believe that I saw something on this previously. If it does die, just cut off the dead parts to prevent the rot from spreading to the live plant tissue.

I would cut it down to green trunk, and put lots of leaves/mulch around the trunk base using a chicken wire to hold when the weather dip down to freezing again.

it seems deeply damaged....try to cut until you see green. If it will survive, remember to cover it, during freezy night...it's a subtropical plant.

Ok, thanks. I went ahead and cut everything that was discolored and squishy. The bottom is still very green and healthy looking. I wrapped a utility blanket around it. I was out of town and didn't realize there would be freezing temperatures.
