Where are the doorways to the room? IS the fireplace low enough to put the tv above? You could put the tv to the right of the 6 windows then two other reading spaces next to fireplace and towards the left.

There is a french door at the far end of the room and an opening into the kitchen next to the doors. Sorry my rendering is not very good.

Where is pasture?

The kitchen is right on the wall next to the french doors. That wall is open and the pasture is on the opposite wall. The wall with all of the windows.

So, if I am standing in this space with my back to the fireplace, the pasture is in front of me? Sorry, but the drawing is written so small when I pull it up, very hard to see and no note as to where this pasture is? We will figure it out! lol

One more question, do you use the fireplace and want that as major focal point?

If both, then we have to get really creative! But, no problem, we can do that!

Been working on this and have come up with a concept to present to you for consideration. Option 1 - I took into account your desire to both have fireplace and views of the prairie and possibly animals, etc. With such a nice size space, here is my idea:

it is dark so this is a bit dark. However, I have TWO seating arrangements, a game table arrangement, and wasn't sure if there would be a TV or not in this room, but there is a long console, or high bar area next to the fireplace area; also a game table for checkers or chess or hanging out! The one seating arrangement looks out to the prairie and the other faces toward the fireplace. Two accent chairs in the outside viewing area and one chair plus a side chair from the bar/TV console to pull in if needed. I also have a wide, long sofa table between the two sofas for a couple lamps and accessories, along with two coffee tables or ottomans and a couple end tables, etc. This provides good walkways from French doors into the space and around it and into the seating areas. I see this as done in rustic/modern pieces and can provide specific ideas if you like the concept. Take a look and see if this is something that would work for you guys!

Flo, what was option two. By the way, where you have an entertainment center, that wall is open into the kitchen. This is such a conundrum. We want to see the pasture but also enjoy the fireplace....Also, my hubs want s a TV in there.

Well, that is all new information. There is no Option 2, I just give them numbers because we generally modify and change. Kind of like "revisions". How about measuring the opening to the kitchen so I know that number. Also, measure the length of the wall with the fireplace and the length of the fireplace itself. We can hang a TV somewhere once we get a furniture arrangement finalized. We could move the TV to the wall left of the fireplace with a console under it for components. That would be visible throughout the room. What did you think of the double sofa arrangement so you get both pasture viewing and fireplace viewing?

My living room had the same conundrum and we did something very similar to what Flo is suggesting. The difference is that while she has given you two fairly equal seating areas, we had a larger one for the fireplace and TV (which did fit above the fireplace) and just two comfy chairs with an oversized ottoman on the backside of the couch for looking out the windows. Putting the furniture on an angle is key.

Yes, Emilie, that is a good option. Just not sure what the poster is leaning toward yet. I went big, because with a large property, sometimes doing small things just doesn't work. I don't know what the fireplace looks like either. Ann could you post some photos of the room? And some additional feedback. I'd be happy to provide Option 2 but I want it include your views!

Okay, here are photos. It was an existing screened in porch that we wanted as our main living area. 1 side has french doors leading into the master bedroom. We are removing those to create a solid wall. This wall is at the far end. As you can see, the windows overlooking the pasture. There are 8 windows across that side. The next picture is of the new fireplace being added...this will be a see thru into the formal living room/den. There are doors on either side that will be turned into bookshelves. The next picture is of the window looking into the breakfast area. We are removing this wall to open up in to the big space. To the right side of those windows will be frenchdoors going onto the deck. Also windows will line that wall as well. I've also added a photo from the room overlooking the pasture. The house is set an angle so doesn't not look straight out at the pasture. Strange but we have to live with it. Tell me what y'all think. thanks so much. I think all the photos are backwards. Sorry.
