Different strokes, for different folks. I say go for it if you think you'll love it.

That said, with that same lighting and paint color, peeps entering are either going to look sick or radioactive. Kind of like Chevy Chase in Modern Problems. Probably not old enough to know that one though.

No different bulbs. Try a soft white 2700K or Phillips Warm bulb. It looks very white or florescent in the pic. Is that right?

@stephE Yes. Even with only day light it is very very bright.

Just tell her if she loves it then that's all that matters. Maybe tell her to find some art or rug and leave it at that. Not much you can do if she is in love with this wall paint but volunteered you to decorate around it. Good friend, but let her decorate around it. She chose the paint, so she can figure out the rest.

It's a fun color, if your friend likes it then work with it. Cookie cutter gray is killing me slowly and I love a little sass. My suggestion would be to tame the fluorescent light with a small chandelier with lower wattage LED bulbs, paint the door and iron railing matte black and grab a rug with a hint of the lime color. A natural woven shade/ blind would be attractive on the window. Ta-da! A great entryway! Good Luck.

The bright color is fine if it's what she wants, but it needs to be leavened with something dark and neutral like a charcoal gray. I'd replace the boob light with something funky, and I'd paint the ceiling the same lime green as the walls.

There's lime green, and there's fluorescent lime green. Your friend chose the latter. I wonder if she thought she was choosing the former, and expected a softer look. If so, then a repainting would help tremendously.

If she intentionally chose the latter, then what is going to work here is a large dose of black. A black door and trim. A black rug. Even a black ceiling.

Then art to cover up a lot of the walls so that you get just the vibrant color in smaller doses.

This is going to sound weird, but if she is up for that color, she already has out there tastes. Check out all of the thrift stores and Facebook selling group pages for paintings on velvet. Not kidding. You'd be going for kitsch in a major way. But the black velvet paintings of Elvis andBob Marley and the Virgin Mary all hung gallery style could really be something against the lime green.

Now if she missed on the color, and meant to go softer, then that repaint with a softer lime, and then maybe us some white and turquoise with it could work.

If she loves it, isn't it all that matters? I think the lime green with a lot of white and a dash of black accents can look unexpected and whimsical. I found these pics on this website and they are kind of cute. Just don't use any electric blue, unless she wants the Seahawks fanatic look.

The door can use a fresh coat of white paint too, and the light. Something <3000K like the others say.

Great little entry to go lime! Shiny black for railing, door and steps. I would buy or paint sleek black frames with black/ white tree prints. A durable rug, maybe cream, black and lime. Black doormats in and out. A wreath on both sides of door, or anything simple and fresh looking. Is that a console table? Easy to add black or lime accents. If she has kids, black silhouettes would be cool! Post pics, and have fun!

@111ideahound The living room and entryways was painted at the same time. She plans to keep the paint colours.

@Liz c, sounds like you can use white to tie the kitchen, living room, and entry together. She sounds like a bright and airy kind of person. That tile in the entry...anything that can be done about that? I was less disturbed by the lime green than I was by the tile...maybe it was the lighting.

Might help the entry way if you stripe it with the blue to kind of draw the two together. Simple to do with blue tape. Make the stripes a larger blue. White framed mirror and shelving would help. Bold seems to b her taste you could use black. Lowes has some nice floating shelves.

I'd incorporate white and navy accent colors. Navy and that shade of green go well together. Some better lighting may help too, as it doesn't do much for the color IMO... too dim

definitely seems like blues and charcoals and white accents complement the lime green. Kudos to her for being so bold with color. I am the opposite and am a neutral person all the way lol. Maybe one day I will be bold with color choice... ;)

@hellopity yes definitely! Me and her are pretty opposite when it comes to wall paint lol! These ideas really opened my eyes to new ideas I love them ! We're doing some shopping next week so it will be great to go with these fab ideas!

Be careful with white in this space. Because of the reflection, the white ends up looking green as well.

If you must keep the lime green, you might want to consider painting the door and stair railings black, then add some black accents, like light fixtures. I think I'd throw in some blue as well --- perhaps the shelves & trim? Using a combination of colors would compliment the green and add interest.

yes, you can go gray. i really like black and white or dk blue and white. have you thought of doing the window trim and maybe a door trim black or very dark gray?

Maybe with more white (trim, entry console table, curtains) and some art in white frames. An area rug in navy. Art can include navy. Maybe less bright light bulbs in fixture.

More thoughts: The pink chair in the living room may have to go. Add some (few) lime accents in the LR. The two spaces should at least acknowledge each other: a matching rug in the LR, maybe.

i disagree a boho enthusiast would not necessarily have each room flowing.

Oh yikes that's a lot of green. Anything white, you should switch to either black or a dark gray, especially the door and flooring. havingfun picked some good rugs too - those would help for sure.
