(By "wood tones," I mean that our decor is wood tones, mostly, so the color scheme we choose should perhaps support that. Also, the hallway has windows on both ends, and through various doorways throughout, so sunlight sometimes finds its way in.)

If you want to stay "historically" correct, go to the local library and ask them for ideas and contacts to see what was done back in those days. SW and BM both have "historical" paint colors and all time popular colors. Most are too dark, but that would be a starting point. Since you have minimal natural light, not unusual and probably artificial light isn't great either, I would explore some whites. Not off whites, but pure whites. SW or BM base pure white color. Then you can add color with upholstery, pillows, towels, stuff like that.

I'd choose the new flooring and decide other colors after that.

@emmarene, curious why the floor first? I think the yellow walls would be a little oppressive in this tight space, particularly because it will be over such a large area. I'm thinking maybe a pale gray of some kind for the walls and white trim and doors, but it might be too boring. Maybe white for the ceiling. Current test color on the floor (not shown) is Whale Gray (BM), but not sure it's right. I'm also finding it too glossy. I like the idea of the dark brown wood floors as shown in one of the photos, but I'm concerned it will be too dark and will show dirt too much, and also that painted wood colors like that are a little ersatz.
