Is it okay for seedlings to lean towards the sun/window?

Hi guys!

I just started sowing my 2017 seeds in small containers and placed them in a room right by a south-facing window. They probably receive almost 5 hours of direct sunlight. That's why I'm confused why they are leaning. Yes, there is an awning on the roof but they are getting so much direct sun because the sun is so low right now.

Unfortunately, most of the seedlings are leaning towards the sunny window.

Is this going to be okay? Will they straiten out once transplanted? Or should i just put them outside during the day? I live in Northern California where we have mild winters but it's about to rain for several days.

Just turn the pots and they will move back towards the sun!! Or you could use grow lights which I do.

I've found it depends. Sunlight is great, but you may want to supplement them with some grow lights to make sure they don't get too spindly, as well as turn your trays.

The other trick I've heard of is using a fan to oscillate over your seedlings. A gentle breeze will help them, plus it'll circulate the air around.

Hi there!

I will consider buying grow lights and fan for next winter, if I'm still gardening then. I might not be able to have the luxury of gardening once I move out of my current residence. :)
