are they already painted? is this a whole kitchen that you will be putting in your home? as far as i know if they are from the same existing kitchen they will be made from whatever those cabinets are and should be able to be treated the same as the cabinets, ie if those cabinets can be painted the panels should be as well

The average kitchen remodel in the US is 60K. An upscale remodel is 120K. A Houzzworthy one 250K.

50K is not out of line at all for a complete, well designed, professionally done project.

Home made paint jobs with house paint don't generally last very well. A professional quality paint job, with a professional waterborne lacquer, usually runs 5-7K.

I die of laughter when I hear a very small kitchen costing 50k. Who in their right mind...

Jennifer Haven, they panels on the dishwasher and fridge are the same wood as the cabinet fronts. I just didn't know if its not recommended to paint them due to, say, water frequently getting on a dishwasher door, or the wear and tear from opening the fridge (likely many more times per day than a cabinet).

Any kitchen that has white panels on the fridge and DW are likely painted.

Assuming the panels aren't super glued on, sure.

That is to say if they can be removed and put back on, and if you have the paint for it, yes you can.

Thank you, everyone. I wasn't sure if there is some special finish on a paneled appliance due to the extra handling it must withstand but sounds like probably not the case.

Go on line to manufacturers sites and find specifications and customer feedback. Be careful you aren't buying "lemons". Subzero has had many maintenance issues. Etc. why are these available? I would be very careful.

Thank you Flo Mangan. It turned out the size didn't work but it appears that these are available from an apartment renovation of a handful of units within a building. They are updating the interior of all of them.

I bet we bought the same used refrigerators from the same place. I got two. They will be fine, and sub zeros are worth repairing if minor problems should arise. I also got two d/w that are new, but not a well know brand. I am a little more concerned about those, but was willing to take the risk.


An aftermarket paint job will not hold up as well as a factory finish, but since it is already an aftermarket paint job, can't you touch it up, if necessary?


Just one comment - your area influences the total cost of your kitchen because labor costs vary considerably. There should not be a huge difference in materials prices (unless you are talking about custom kitchens).
