He Laundry Detergents

This lively and wise forum has instilled in me some laundry awe. Now that my mieles are being delivered next week (praise be!), I have turned my attention to detergents. I'm sad to say, I have been using one detergent for everything (BioKleen liquid and powder) and now think I am not getting the full benefit of my washing machine after reading some threads on this topic. Please let me know what you use that you love!

I like a detergent that has no Optical Brightening Agents.

Don't mind scents, but nothing overpowering. No scent is okay too.

As green as possible, I'm not a big fan of chemicals/dyes/synthetics but realize you need to get the clothes clean so can compromise in this area.

Also, my spouse has oily skin. Any detergent particularly helpful with this issue. Sometimes his clothes do not feel clean nor smell fresh...

Green Works is an excellent, natural, non-OBA detergent. It got a terrific score from Consumer Reports, and it's excellent at removing body oils. I use the F&C version but there is also an "original" scent which is kind of herbal. Only bad thing is it's hard to find though it's stocked at most Targets. I've only been using it for a few weeks but am impressed with how well it removes body oils from my dark sheets.

Anyone using Bio Kleen might want to try Grab Green pods. What's in them is on another thread but most seem to like them and their fragrance. They also have no scent and a no-scent-delicate.

I'm a fan of the various Perwoll liquids which have fragrances that are nice in the bottle but don't cling. I use their black wash, sports wash and delicate.

I like my Euro Persil for colors liquid (unsure of US equivalent as I haven't had to buy yet).

I've heard much about the Perwoll liquids. I think they are a must try. Thanks rococogurl. Not heard about Grab Green Pods -- I will look into them.

I like the Clorox brand Green Works free/clear, too, in our FL washer. No optical brighteners, either.

beaglenc, I have a he TL. It's not sud-less but the suds are minimal. And it seems to rinse well.

Green Works smells fantastic, but in my FL and soft water it suds almost as much and bad as Vaska!! Shame, since it cleans very well, has no OBAs and is a great product. Wish I could use it!!

Grab green pods for whites, with its activated bleach and Greenworks for colours are my current OBA free fav's right now. Even with my wicked soft water, I've been able use the Greenworks. Though, I have to be careful will dosing. Or it's as larsi experiences.
