Reclaimed counter tops continue to gain popularity in the wood counter top industry. They produce a high character wood counter top while offering a "green" option to customers who are interested. Here are photos of a 2 1/4" thick plank style reclaimed Hemlock counter top recently produced by us!

It all starts with a source of reclaimed lumber material. In this case we located a bundle of 3" hemlock beams taken out of a mill building in the Boston, MA area.

The hemlock makes it's way to our shop where it is straightened, processed and glued together to crate a slab to work from.

The top is then processed with the bottom of the top being flat as to make attaching to the cabinetry easy while the top of the counter top retains the natural contours of the reclaimed lumber provided. Epoxy is used in some instances where the cracks may cause some concern for the stability of the top but the epoxy is mixed with colors as to best resemble the natural color and shape of the wood.
