It doesn't have to match. I wouldn't touch the table. You could add a few darker elements to the rest of the decor. Living area is lovely but does look slightly washed out.

I think it adds a lot of character to your home, and while the occasional tables that you already refinished look nice, they look like about a zillion others that you can buy anywhere. No offense intended...

I'd leave the table alone. I think once you get new dining chairs if will look more appealing in your room. The table looks great. A horizontal or large square piece of art would look good on that end wall. Something with color in it, everything is beige & white. And, I'd rethink the idea of a wreath.

leave it, the table is beautiful! it appears as your mantel is also a darker wood?? you just need a few smaller darker pieces to tie all those in. you have a beautiful home

I like the table, as is. You can always add a rug if you don't like the contrast with the floor.

The table is perfect as it is. If you are unhappy with it, sell it on Craig's List and get one you can love. Are you not planning to add any color to your spaces? Consider repainting the LR tables' bases in a subtle accent color so they don't look like a 'zillion other pieces. Perhaps Sherwin Williams Sea Salt or similar would be enough color but not overwhelming. Then take the accent color to the dining room in art, fabric and textiles. If you like the look, I think your rooms can lean into coastal.

Our house is small so I was going for neutral/light colours to help brighten the space and make it feel bigger (that's also why we chose lighter coloured flooring). I think adding a few darker elements as suggested can make it all tie together. I'm going for the farmhouse style.

We drove an hour away to pick up this table and this was one of the lower priced ones in the style I like so I don't want to re-sell (or spend $2000+ for something new). I haven't come across a used, light coloured one in this style.

With the coffee and side tables, I was going for the farmhouse style
that I saw at stores and online, so was happy to find them at the
thrift store and refinish instead of spending hundreds of dollars. I
was going to try distressing the legs but they look nice as is and I haven't tried that technique before so don't know if it would look good. I've
already put on 2-3 coats of paint and re-tinted the paint twice to get
the white I wanted so I'm leaving them as is (but painting
another colour is always an option in the future).

Here's an inspiration photos for keeping our table as is (but our table has more of an orange tint to it and I won't be having so much decor and lighting!) I actually like this look more than the two other ones below that were inspiration for refinishing.

While they look cook, the metal chairs are not very comfortable for lingering over dessert and coffee. I'd look for something more comfy.

That is a gorgeous table! I agree that it will be perfect in your home. Your home looks wonderful.

Go with what you like.....including a wreath. Wreaths in various forms have been around a long time. I recently read a post where someone said that they are " too country". ( By the way.....farmhouses are generally in the country). Farmhouse decor is all the rage, but " country" make folks think of geese and teddy bears. Things come and go......someone frowns on a wreath on the wall and instead hangs up a cow print. Do we think that those cows are destined to become classic? :)

Yes, farmhouse style seems to be the trend, but harvest tables seem to have been around for a much longer time so hope these pieces will be with us for a long time.

Maybe a mirror in a similar finish to the table? I like Beverley's mock up. The table is gorgeous, I wouldn't try to change its finish.

I bought a cabinet made of reclaimed wood and when I first saw it in my house I thought it was way too dark and I would refinish or paint it, but several years later it's still in its original condition; I realized it does work--I just needed to live with it a while and see it in context. And it gets lots of compliments from visitors.

Nothing wrong with mixing things up. Love the table and the chairs are fine. The metal chairs shown in your inspiration picture are classic and quite comfortable. The key is to get the right size for ones behind.

Agree on the table, it's perfect. I'd remove the big clock and dried flowers. They don't seem to work with a modern vibe.

I would leave the table as is. Change the chairs to upholstered Parson chairs and add an area rug
