It depends whether or not you want to bring attention to the sink and appliances or not. You could always go with black, then everything blends well together and creates a clean line. I myself like a little contrast, and would like to see a light colored counter top with some small swirls of black, gray, or brown. Maybe even a little of all three without being too overwhelming. You want to keep a conversation going with everything you choose. Something, like the color, should talk to the floors and the cabinets to connect them together and look like a cohesive space.
