Glass front upper cabinets

We moved into our new home in July and we have these glass front upper cabinets in the kitchen (14 of them). I also have four of them in a built in shelf in the living room. What do you think I should put in them? We didn't get the lights for them installed so they are dark. Something white? I don't want to spend too much money on whatever I put in them since I have so many to fill. Cabinets are grey and we have white Quartz counters. Thanks!

This is why I hate upper glass front cabinets. I have them too and I put nothing in them. Yours might actually look cool with some white pottery because of the dark grey and then the white backsplash.

For the time being, I'd put some colorful serving bowls and low-frequency holiday platters, etc., up there. Things that add some color without being too cluttered. Keep an eye out for things you like seeing, and maybe over time a few of these could become sculptures or teapots or other things that speak to you. I think it's ok to take your time, especially if they're not lit.

Store serving pieces, glassware, ceramics that are not used often. Get a collapsible footstool that you can store nearby for easy access. Definitely no need to run out and purchase items for this purpose.

We unfortunately didn't get he option of not having them. The lights were ridiculously expensive and we put that money into other things we wanted instead in the house. I was thinking white would stand out more in the unlit cabinets than anything else.

Get some LED lights up there.... keep whatever you put in them simple.

Amanda, do you have an attic above? If so it'd be relatively inexpensive to add LED pucks. An attic would make access to electrical easy. You could spread expenses by doing ones over cooktop first, then over fridge later. I don't have as many glass door uppers as do you, but it's a great effect when entertaining.

I would go with white...maybe a bit of silvery stuff...colour is nice but I tend to like sleek and modern. You could get white items for not very much money...also if you have anything around the house ...you can paint it white...gorgeous kitchen BTW

Amanda, I also think using white inside the glass would be nice. We have a section in our kitchen with glass front cabinets. They do have interior lighting. Using all white items inside the glass and keeping it simple worked nicely. I don't think you can go wrong with the white.

Re white & silvery, here's one of mine w/ lights off. Plate is twd rear so it's not directly under light when on. If it were centered it'd look better w/ lights off. My other glass upper one has crystal which doesn't show w/ lights off but looks fabulous when they're on. I love your pendants. Not so big they block lines of sight & translucent not clear so no glare bombs.
